I think they choose driver based on the person qualification and other factors etc. Cannot be if a person is a diploma or A level and higher which have potential to send them to SISPEC or OCS, but if possess class 3 licence and then send them to become driver, right?!
Vulcann 6th Gear October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 If really given a choice, real one not badek-badek one, I would wanna be a fighter pilot. Guess the poison penetrated deep & still lingers till this day after watching Top Gun... But folks say the best is to be a transport pilot because after retiring from active service can go on train as a commercial ariline pilot to carry on with the next career

But I'm not sure about helicopter pilots thou... But transport planes have one disavantage - they are sitting ducks and have no way to 'run' or defend themselves if being attacked by enemy fighter planes or SAMs... Vulcann 6th Gear October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 (edited) I think even fighter pilots can be crossed trained to be a commerical pilot. But I'm not sure about helicopter pilots thou... But transport planes have one disavantage - they are sitting ducks and have no way to 'run' or defend themselves if being attacked by enemy fighter planes or SAMs... Fighter jocks do become airline pilots. Just that military transport plane pilots are already trained in operating multi-engine aircrafts so they are more preferred by arilines. In modern times no one is immune to attacks: 1. Armoured vehicles like AFVs & even MBTs have to encounter an array of more advanced AT weapons with greater punching power & even can overcome its explosive reactive armour (ERA) e.g. US Army's Javelin; 2. Surface combatants are facing the ever silent and elusive subs with their quieter and faster torpedoes & anti-surface missiles. Some subs are even armed with cruise missiles which can strike land targets. Examples are US Navy's Seawolf- & Virginia-class SSNs; 3. Military aircrafts now facing the possibility of a futuristic rail gun which fires a projectile at up to Mach 7 velocity. Still at experimental phase but if succesful and put into use, they can throw away all the SAMs liao; 4. Even ground combat troops are not spared. In addition to the old-tech but equally lethal IEDs, mines and cluster bombs, they can be shot at more than 2km away by anti-material rifles like the 0.5 inch M182 Barrett. So best is to peace bro, no war please Edited October 25, 2013 by Vulcann

JackRabbit 3rd Gear October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 talking about pilots, actually being helicopter pilots also quite good - i think there is a also a demand for private chopper pilots - if not in Singapore, at least in other countries. So a trained military chopper pilot should easily be able to land a commercial job as well.
Vulcann 6th Gear October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 normally they will be escorted by fighters. Not really unless they carry high value cargoes or VVIPs & fly over conflict zones. An air force worth its salt will normally have AWACS to warn its military aircafts on inbound bogeys. ↡ Advertisement
