if you are Ron Dennis, who will you keep? But or Mag?

If u want peace n harmony n a driver that makes less mistakes n willing to take team orders, it will be Button. Mag is a young upcoming driver with ambition which is good for the long run but will it be possible to keep harmony with Alonso, I'm not sure.

valid point but But is at his retirement age for a F1 driver already. at most, he can race for another yr or 2.

But with a new engine, McLaren will need someone with all the experience to provide feedback and further develop the Honda engine.

I will keep But and not expecting to win big next season.

You are 100% right on the invaluable feedback Button can give esp as it's a new collaboration with Honda. More I think of it, McLaren must keep Button but perhaps so as not to lose Mag completely, they could meanwhile loan him out to a smaller team, shld be a win-win situation!

keeping button in McLaren has its advantage

a. JB is an experienced driver although not as hungry as Mag but who knows, if Honda car is competitive, JB can become hungry too

b. JB seems to be a Yes man, should not have problem teaming up with Alonso. Again, who knows if the car works well + competitive, everyone wants to win, who don't

c. Having 2 world champions in the team definitely win some credit and popularity for sponsorship

d. although JB driving skill is not aggresive but at least it's more consistent than Mag ... rookie errors and anyhow can crash out

Ham begging the engineers not to tune up his engine and he still manage to keep P1. I thought Mercs are going full potential for the last race to let the guys fight it out and also to let others see how good their engine was. Anyway, last heard that all Renault, Ferrari and Honda claimed that their new engine for 2015 will match current Merc's but Merc's 2015 engine is reported 75HP more than this year's. Looks like its going to be W06 domination again.

What an anti-climax to the finale. As a HAM fan, was looking to a wheel to wheel from lights to flag...

You have to feel for ROS though (if the shoe was in the other foot, so will I) but I must say that

1) the championship is won over 1 season, not 1 race

2) he had his share of good luck as well (he was v lucky not to DNF in Canada) and was has 1 less DNF than Lewis

3) the best driver still won the championship in the end: 11 wins vs 5, while ROS has yet to overtake HAM on track properly and make it stick throughout the 2014 season.

3 months of winter awaits until testing.

of the 8 constructor championships that McLaren won, 4 are using Honda's engine. only 1 won by Merc engine.

Mattiacci replaced by Arrivabene as Ferrari team principal!

Ferrari have announced the appointment of Maurizio Arrivabene as their new Formula One team principal, replacing Marco Mattiacci who took over from Stefano Domenicali in April.

Arrivabene comes to Ferrari from tobacco giants and team sponsors Philip Morris, which he joined in 1997, becoming Vice President Consumer Channel Strategy and Event Marketing in 2011. Throughout this time the Italian has been closely involved in the company’s partnership with Maranello and he has also represented all Formula One sponsors on the F1 Commission since 2010.

“We decided to appoint Maurizio Arrivabene because, at this historic moment in time for the Scuderia and for Formula One, we need a person with a thorough understanding not just of Ferrari but also of the governance mechanisms and requirements of the sport,” commented Ferrari Chairman Sergio Marchionne.

“Maurizio has a unique wealth of knowledge: he has been extremely close to the Scuderia for years and, as a member of the F1 Commission, is also keenly aware of the challenges we are facing. He has been a constant source of innovative ideas focused on revitalisation of Formula One. His managerial experience on a highly complex and closely regulated market is also of great importance, and will help him manage and motivate the team. I am delighted to have been able to secure his leadership for our racing activities.”

News of Arrivabene’s appointment comes less than 24 hours after the conclusion of the 2014 season, which saw Ferrari finish a disappointing fourth in the constructors’ championship, having failed to win a race for the first time since 1993.

“We would also like to thank Marco Mattiacci for his service to Ferrari in the last 15 years and we wish him well in his future endeavours” concluded Mr Marchionne.
