Rationalexuberance 4th Gear January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 Hi Aarcee, Welcome to the forum. I am pretty new myself and like you, I came because I am looking for a new ride. I think yours is more of a finance question so hopefully the following is useful. There are various loan / lease types available, from 50% ~ 80%, at varying interest rates from 1.8% ~ 2.5% P.A., with different repayment periods from 5 to 7 years. As there are 3 different sub-models of the Vezel (more if you count the Hybrid) selling at different prices, we shall take $120,000.00 for simple reference. If you are taking a 50% loan, you will be paying 1/2, or $60,000.00 down payment upfront, and assuming a 5-year loan at 2% interest P.A., you will be paying around $1,150.00 monthly for 5 years, or roughly $130,000.00 in total. If you are taking a 80% loan, you will be paying 20%, or $24,000.00 down payment upfront, and assuming a 7-year loan at 2% interest P.A., you will be paying around $1,350.00 monthly for 7 years, or roughly $137,500.00 in total. Most PIs require $10k payment to start your COE bidding process, and some will ask for additional deposit like 10% of the car price, all these have to be paid upon booking and will count towards your down payment, with the rest payable when your car is ready for collection. Go talk to as many PIs as you can / like and shortlist those whose packages you feel most comfortable with. Talking about PIs, there are many good PIs around, but it only takes one Volks Auto to spoil your day, so you really need to be careful and do your homework diligently. Even if I am to tell you right here right now XXX is a really good and responsible PI with fair prices, how do you know I am not just one of their employees masquerading as a helpful forumer trying to scam you? If you need something as a starting point, there's an excellent post-chain right here on this thread listing down all the people here who has either collected or booked their rides and from there you can see who are the PIs that consistently delivers and pleases. You can also find other excellent advises over the pages as well as on other threads; what to look out for when booking, what to ask and what to reject etc., do spend some time to go through them if you can. Golden rule; cheap is not always good and price is not everything. The above is just a feel of what you can expect, most PIs are opened to discussions and negotiations, and how far you manage to go will really depend on your bargaining skills. Hope this helps. Good luck to us both on our car hunt. One simple rule of thumb is...the more loan you take, the more discount or free gifts that you essentially need & you should ask for. Nowadays leather seats and entry level HU are standard offers, nothing special. Ask for MORE, there is much room to give. To add on the topic of cheating PIs/Dealers...i believe the best kind are those who are able to engage the services of a bank to hold custody of the deposits of customers. I'm not sure in detail how this can work when dealing on the administrative side of things, however this is kind of custodian deposit handling has long been used by online spread betting companies and brokers. So if the company folds, none of the deposit by the client is affected. The main issue is, can that money be used to bid for cars. In fact since SG has this unique COE and requires bidding with $10k min deposit, perhaps a rule to protect buyers & sellers can be set to level the playing field. Eg Min deposit =$10,000 (into custodian account which is allowed to be used for bidding) + $5000 (a nominal amount for dealers to be paid to contractually seal the agreement T&Cs. Any additional nominal deposit above $5000, LTA can set a rule that it will also be locked in the custodian account. Larger amount of deposit can be pegged according to percentage of OMV range for the particulalr vehicle in qn. Both parties to the contract can only take back or receive payment of the monies if the purchase/sales agreement proceed smoothly and car delivery/receipt is made, or the contract is rescinded and agreed upon amicably. As such, the only risk that buyers face is $5000 or can be less. Dealers will not be afraid of buyers running road as the custodian acct protects both parties to the deal. If buyer run road, dealer can prove, dealer takes the deposit.

Coolsurfer 1st Gear January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 Good to hear you are getting 14-15km/l and its now better than your first few tanks! You can consider lowering your tyre pressure bah. 250 is too bumpy and damaging imho. Lol. 235 is good enough. You may not see much diff compared to 250 as long as you check your tyre pressure once a week and maintain at 235. Found 220/210 or 230/220 good for me. Was talking to the workshop and he recommended 230 normal or 235 for highway. But mainly wonder if the start/stop button should be disabled. If stop at the traffic light too long..it auto starts anyway. Also so much more restarting not only engine, starter motor, but also aircon compressor wonder if the parts are built for it? If we use thinner oil will it be like cold starts at each traffic light?

trajet2b 4th Gear January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 To All those new buyers. You can see Vezel price is slightly lower in the ads now. This could be due to anticipation of more COE. This could also means Vezel CEV rebate band be upgraded from band A3 ($10K) to A2($15K) Please check with your PI which CEV Rebate you will be getting. This is very important because your scrap value or PARF will be lower. Average Vezel with CEV band A3 scrap value is about $5K Scrap value for CEV band A2 will be much much lower. (ya I typed much twice) Do not be overwhelmed and overlook the CEV Rebate. Make an informed choice. Good Luck.
Pat62 1st Gear January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 Just called my PI and he told me: 1. After car arrives in SG, need to go Vicom and it takes 2 weeks to get a Vicom date. 2. After Vicom, then can apply for VITAS. When applying for VITAS, LTA does not tell PI the date of the VITAS immediately. Wonder if the bros/siss here have similar experience? Appreciate if you can share and enlighten. Booked my car on 9 Nov 14 and seems like I can only get delivery in early Mar 15 and that is not for sure as well. TIA. I would want PI to insert OMV and ARF on the contract or at least via sms of the exact unit that I am buying. We are actually paying for all these items. And similar models can differ 2-3k in OMV. Correspondingly ARF, and eventually directly affect our paper value

Pat62 1st Gear January 28, 2015 Share January 28, 2015 Unfortunately it is all true. Approx 6 weeks wait for car to clear paperwork after reach port to even reach showroom Thanks. I was told Vicom use to be very fast but now need 2-3 weeks. So, I am not sure if there is this added timeframe. Thought I saw report that LTA is looking into speeding up. So, I am puzzled with this new info from my PI. I think in earlier postings in this forum, once a PI applies for VITAS, there should be a date for VITAs given by LTA. PI told me that VITAS application was submitted on 20 Jan 15 but he is still not informed by LTA of the date for the VITAS. So, there is still no fixed date for VITAS. So, again I am puzzled.
