S$143K ++

I am also a ex-trajet owner, I believe at this moment, Sangyong Stavic 2.0 Diesel turbo will be a gd replacement for trajet in term of space and running cost...of cos, provided you dun mind the brand...

Forget about avanza, its the worst car i ever drive when i rent in Bali. Less than 30 min journey, your back will be in pain

Wah really ah... I thought it is a good choice for ppl who not particular with bells and whistles but just wants space and 7 seats. Then I better stay away...

Avanza is available here?

Yes.. Borneo motors brought it in.. Looks not bad leh..

There was a review by ST sometime back where they commented that this car is "back to the future" lol.

it is very popular in Malaysia and Jakarta.. when I was there on Biz trip.. the local guys chartered an Avanza to fetch us around.. It is a no frill car...but has an aircon outlet on the roof which direct air to the 2nd & 3rd row.. the third row is made up of 2 individual seats which can be folded up and hooked up on each side ( I hope I didn't mixed up with another brand)... It will definitely bring u from pt A to pt B... but comfort wise is questionable.

Hi all...just wanted to share..my experience with the Noah so far.

Have actually written 2 reviews to date 7 my experience with it has been SUPERB...

i upgraded from a Toyota Isis with 134,000km on it & so far this Noah has beat my old wheels whihc was also a sliding door MPV by miles!!

The only negative i have with the MPV is my not so pleasant experience with my sales guy & his manager attitude....

1. put visors on contract not delivered - when pursued..said none in market yet so suck thumb

2. put scruff plates on contract- not delivered - when pursued see above

3.since 1 &2 not delivered i asked if can add a sub worth $350 when i was swapping my sound system into new wheels but was declined!! said car was high COE...crap man..i also suffered paying $80K COE for a COE that is now $20K

4. Last issue- felt cheated with trade in...my fault his one as car was bought with little homework!...bit impulsive...they put a price of $14,00 above what they bought my wheels for!!

Ok back to important stuff...

the Noah...has been really GREAT!

it's no wonder this car has a long waiting list in Japan...it's surpassed sales forecast...buyers are spending money on the latest updated car compared to Wish, Estimata , Alphard with spending less money...

where prices are not too different, they try to get the most bang for buck..large MPV luxury for the price of a smaller MPV

The car bells whistles can be checked out in better deatil than the PI information available here

http://www.toyotanoah.com.hk/download/Noah_Catalog.pdf

http://toyota.jp/noah/

Use google chrome & do translation for the Japan webbie

The car has features foound in mire higher end cars ;like

1. Info panel -on controls of aircon, driving mode, start stop engine information

2.VSC, traction control, ISO ,hillstart assist

3. Start stop engine

4. I am getting approx 12-13km per litre...this car is almost 2 tonnes!!!

5. On paper pictures looks bit ugly from some angles...you own..it grows on you...you buy the sports edition...WAH best

I googled this for Hong kong ...that many Japanese & Hong Kongers can't be soo wrong ;-)

No offense to Avanza owners out there..but at the price Borneo is selling at & considering the car is assembly country...ride comfort...i urge potential buyers to consider topping up another $5 to $10K for next "Japanese " model

Buying a car in SG is expensive ..so if already in the six digits...choose wisely...adding $10-$20k MORE not a lot if you divide into 10 years. or even 5 years...less than one month AWB (annual bonus)

I go to Thailand & JKT a fair amount..the Avanza is pretty springy (suspension) its a roller...& personally not a pretty sight...my own opinions

+ side...plenty of spares across the border...-ve side...easy target for theft across the border...you see cars that are more common generally easier to chop & sell spares ;-)

So good luck folks....hopefully you get the right MPV for you peace!

Hi all MPV guru,

I currently driving a Verna and looking to upgrade my ride to MPV due to expansion of family member.

Am considering Hyundai Trajet and Kia Caren. Could any kind soul be able to advise on the maintenance and also fuel comsumption?

As I do not wish to 'spend' so much on Japanese brand MPV, therefore I looking budget MPV like the korean.

Thank in advance!

Both Kia & Hyundai do not have MPV in their current line up.. only have a 7 seaters SUV

you may consider the other Korean maker, SsangYong's Stavic ...

Dear guys,

Thanks for the suggestion. At the moment I looking at used car at the moment. In view of the COE movement in within year 2015/2016, I believe COE will have some adjustment and that is the time to for me to buy new car.

It make no sense for me to pay 60k COE without seeing the paper.

Appreciate your input.

Thanks bro for the advice! How about the maintenance? High side beside the regular oil change, timing belt water pump etc?

I've used trajet before, the older model/first generation.

Quite reliable x 1-2 yrs, even drive up to Bt Kayu Hitam.

one of the door lock mechanism "broken" after a year, but easily repaired, not expensive.

Fuel consumption pretty high, around 6km/L if not mistaken.

The seats were very heavy, not practical to move and remove.

Space wise reasonable, 3rd row more spacious than wish/stream.

Wish at best is considered small size mpv

cannot use it to compare with other full size mpv

I think for full size MPV, the FC is around 8 to 10 km/L

Dun compare wish/stream to full size MPV like trajet /picinic as they are totally different specs

Trajet used to be value for money MPV.

I am still driving one, think newest you can get in the mkt is 2008 or 2009, extinct leow !

but hard to find one in good condition

thing to take note if getting a used trajet

bloody engine is damn hot, best is to fix a ATF cooler, this will prolong your ATF and save you $$$ later in repair bill

Also, hoses will crack/tear due to hot engine bay, sure need to change once and it will be ok.

Since it is running on timing belt, need to change them when mileage is due, I find that the water pump is quite sturdy

No need to change, but mechanic always advise to change as labour charge is the same.

Another major problem is the solenids, tends to ki seow and light up the check engine lights, but once replace, will not have issue.

other then that, no major issues

On NSHW, very very stable as it weight nearly 2tons !
