Neutral Newbie

Hello everyone, I just paid downpayment for the Mazda5 last week. And am totally excited about it.

I was reading through some of the postings, may I ask

1. What is ice

2. Besides aesthetic reasons, why would we want to change the rims of the car bigger?

Β

I am extremely new to cars--- sorry the question sounds silly but, I was reading up on polishing and it leaving swirl marks, is it true for all polishing services?

Let me try to answer your questions:

Β

1. It's in fact ICE, which stands for In-Car Entertainment.

2. To make the ride more stable, especially during cornering.

3. Not true if the polishing guys do it properly.

So the next noob question(s)

Β

1. How many types of polishing are there?

2. Which one would you recommend?

3. What is the diffeence between us polishing and a professional (besides that it being convenient)

4. When do u all usually send ur car for polishing and how frequently?

Β

That is the answers to all your questions.

Recommendations are all there with various drivers giving their feedback.

Β

For diy or professional, the answers for end results is pretty obvious.

Β

Cheers

Yes, a few bros here including me! I changed mine at Stamford, upgraded to 17" monoblock with Continental CSC5 tyres, no regrets! Handling and stability slightly improved due to the wheels being slightly further out, and FC is still around 10km/L with a mix of city/highway driving (I'm using V-Power Nitro), although I managed to get around 15km/L when I drove up north a couple of times, cruising at around 130km/h, aircon on all the way and carrying 6-7 people with luggages, which to me is freaking impressive! I personally find the stock wheels pretty bland, every time I look at my wheels now it makes me happy haha!Β  [thumbsup]

Welcome to the family of Mazda 5!!!

I love it too....

I feel that dark grey is a good color too. Mysteriously handsome feel.....

I'm driving a white M5, it gets dirty easily and sometimes there are faint black smudges that can

only be removed by some simple self polish liquids...

Β

Kudos to zoom zoom.......M5!

For myself, I've yet to collect my new whiteΒ Mazda 5 as I have not gotten my COE successfully.

Β

I'm currently with Groomwerkz polishing package for my current ride and have been with this detailing company since 2009.

I'm still left with 1 more session with them and I have decided to ignore it as the venue is way too far for me, and their booking system is screwed.

Β

I'veΒ done a few research on my list for my upcoming ride; and I will be going for Oxygen Performance Grooming for their Meguiar M188.

Β

I've never paid a single cent to car wash center for the pastΒ 8 years, and I have washing my own ride every weekend without fail.

All my previous cars including current one are Black in colour, and this upcoming white mazda shall be my first.

Β

Whatever coating or wax you decide for your ride, just remember to get quote for subsequent maintenance cost.

In our local climate, no product can last more than 6 months unless you seldom drive.

Β

Last but not least, you need to shout out your budget. [laugh]

You looking to change to 17" or remains at 16" rims?

Β

This ride is tricky and changing to wrong wheel specs may result in rear arch rubbing during full load when going over hump.

Thank you biscuit!

For polishing and waxing do you need to look for a specific guy to do it or it boils down to the things we use?

Β

I am looking to change to a 17- from what I gather it will make car more stable?

Β

Same here! I haven't gotten the successful bidding yet... Crossing my hands today!!!!!!!!! There's a bidding today ;)

Actually white is not exactly hard to maintain, Even i'm on open air carpark most of the time.

just to wash car when it gets dirty/dusty or after rain and everything is fine, I've done glass sealant protection when I got it. After 3 years still maintaining well and I get satisfaction after car wash for white as it looks sparkly bright and clean after wash.

For black and other dull colours, after cleaning also almost same feel and look,Β  not much satisfaction after wash.
