Any one know about the new Infiniti Q50

I don't know how it is for everybody else but I don't think it works all that great.

The engine will switch off but re-start without doing anything after 10-15s sometimes, foot on the brake in either D or N. It's like the battery/capacitor is not big enough to last longer while a/c and radio are on so even before you need the engine for moving off, it fires back up.

I tried switching into P with handbrake on and all this appears to do is keep the engine running.

Still something I need to work out better but if everybody's is the same, I know it's not just me.

Yes, that happens with mine too. And, the engine stops if you throttle to 'P' with the handbrakes on after stopping, but will restart again if you unbuckle your seatbelt before you press the start/stop button... [dizzy] silly... hahaha [laugh]

But, I was told the auto start/stop helps to conserve fuel, that's why I kept it.

the good thing is...the Q is suppose to be an intelligent car.... and supposely with some firmware upgrades (if infiniti finally comes to it) can gives us more driving modes to select from. (replacing the SNOW with eco would be a great start)

Yup. the SNOW mode is useless in our part of the world, along with the heated seats.

errr...for a 2.0 car..i have never gotten anything better than 9.5km/L... im being absolutely honest as im not one that see the point in boasting my car's FC. my old honda accord worked out 8.3 avg (i hit 11 on a few occasions in the break-in period...but im not silly enough to keep telling these figures are normal.) the 318i bmw that i drive 1-2 times a week...works out to be about the same. only my old 1.6L ford and toyota ever got more than 10..avg...granted i am not the ahpek driver,i accelerate when it matters but drives sensibly...

it is very common to have these figures (7-8.5) in a city state like us. when i used to drive up NS highway, the bmw was clocking 11 easily. i always doubt those silly figures like 13/14 in singapore....unless one drive like a retired ahpek with nothing to do...it is probably an occasional figure that people keeps repeating.

That's really comforting to hear. Now, at least, I'm not paranoid over the Q50 not doing better than 9. I have not been much of a 2.0L driver. My 1.6L Avante used to clock around 11.5 Km/L.

Doesn't anyone else find this feature a little irritating ? I mean, when the lights go green or when you need to move after being caught in a terrible jam ? And I have a slightly heavier foot, so there is also a jerk and its quite dangerous as well, considering how well this car can sometimes accelerate.

[laugh] Yes, it jerks when restarting. That's what I told the AD last time and he said some people like it, some don't but, generally, people will get use to it. For me, I wait for a couple of seconds before applying the accelerator after it restarts. The jerks are irritating, but I'm getting use to it. Hopefully, it really saves energy.

You should try start stop with Aircon off. Likely the Aircon set temp is lower than current temp and the compressor needs to work.

Interesting......obviously I'm going to be much happier burning an extra litre of petrol if it means keeping the a/c on [sly]

yup obviously. start stop works more for temperate countries which do not need a/c that much. rather pointless in the tropics if you need the a/c on to be comfy. same with the fuel consumption figures. usually a/c is not on.

can these type of starter be used on other brands ?

Just another "Bosch" starter, something the flywheel ring gear also play a part to it sound...let's say,you buy a Ferrari starter [sly] ,but don't expect your B&B car, after fitting it[let's say it can be done :D ],to sound like a Ferrari when starting...

I went to test drive the Q50 just now. I got a $50 shell petrol voucher coz i present a voucher which i got from Singapore Expo.

The car looks and feels not bad. I test drove the sports model. the power is about there.

dislike about the car: the 2 screen is abit lag to use. and it was raining quite heavily while i test drive. the rain was hitting the roof and the glass and it sound damn loud. it sound like there is no sound proofing for the top of the car. sound like a milo tin can on top.. way too loud for such a nice car. machiam siting in lorry.

BUT. the drive is nice. i like the various cameras it have.

that is very strange, ive been driving my Q50 premium around for the last 2 weeks, quite a few rainy days...especially heavy on one day i remembered. my customer in my car was commenting how quiet the ride and insulation is. i wouldnt say its in the S or E class level, or even IS250..but it is pretty quiet.

however, i do share a similar experience when i was in a E class in really heavy rain...and it was loud, but no where like a milo tin can roof.

so i think if we are talking about very heavy rain....that amount of pounding is going to get felt in any car. just softer perhaps.

Hmm... neither did I experience the loud raining sound during a heavy downpour. Strange.

By the way, any Infiniti owners here receive an invite to the Infiniti Appreciation event at their showroom this Saturday?

I test drove the Q50 sports. with sun roof which was not open. Did not on any audio too. Perhaps its the sunroof which is very noisy.

Driving around for more about 1.5 months now. Same as the other bros, not any louder in the Q50 compared to any of the continental cars ... was very loud in my old Civic though. Audio was clear, etc ... but I didn't bother to open the internal cover for the sun roof. Maybe if you drove with that open, it was louder.

Driving the sports model.

I drove my 1 week old Infiniti to the Caltex pump station this afternoon, and this man from the car workshop walked up to me as I got out of the car and ask

"老板,你这辆Infiniti很漂亮,远看好象Jaguar,一定很贵吧?“

:)

Also got my car done by Revol。。。Understand from them that this is the fourth Infinity that is done by them at AMK already.

ok. that is true. some car with sunroof can have noise issues when it rains heavily. that is the reason why i dont like sun or moon roofs. i seat before in a mpv with a huge sunroof and it was rather quiet, but had not so great experience in the honda ody with sunroof.

but these are nothing compared to soft-top convertibles...hahahah...
