Amazon777 3rd Gear March 9, 2015 Share March 9, 2015 (edited) Hi all. I just called Lta his morning to clarify. After I submitted the D01 form to de-register my car, the dealer who took the car away has to submit the required documents within one month otherwise the parf may be forfeited. In his case, I'm at his mercy whether he gonna complete the de-registration putting my five figure parf at risk le. Have you try SGCarMart QUOTZ? Did they offer anything for your car body? Someone offer me the same proposition for my car body at $3k. In the end, for peace of mind, decide to sell at $2.5k + PARF $29k in cash to a dealer last Nov Edited March 9, 2015 by Amazon777
flashbang Turbocharged March 9, 2015 Share March 9, 2015 Don't be penny wise pound foolish. Dealer offer you $500 for body, but I think most scrap yards will give you at least $100 for it. You only earn $400 more but risk your 5-digit PARF.
Kevin613 1st Gear March 9, 2015 Share March 9, 2015 sounds like the dealer will drive your car up north, and try to look for buyer there.
Ake109 Supercharged March 9, 2015 Share March 9, 2015 Mind telling us what car it is? So we can give an idea if 500 for the body is worth it? In any case, as mentioned by the others, don't play play, if the Bengster Dealer cock up (even unintentionally), and you don't get the paperwork done by 20th, you forfeit your entire PARF. LTA not going to give chance.

I asked dealer if he can put in a clause in the agreement that in the event the car is not properly exported or scraped, I hv the right to claim lost in parf from him. He seems reluctant. So_nice 6th Gear March 9, 2015 Share March 9, 2015 Just tell him if he wanna export it to Malaysia, go thru the proper channel else no deal. If he gets nasty, make a police report and refer to LTA for such under table practice

Reo 4th Gear March 13, 2015 Share March 13, 2015 I just de-reg. my car last week, and went through the same as what you do now. The dealer who bought my car for export is a good dealer and doing proper business. We agreed to a price, PARF + body. I later changed my mind because I can save some few hundreds if I en-cash to my account by myself instead. But due to my own cautiousness (and paranoia you can say), I was wondering if the dealer would to be shady and did not do the proper paper work follow up, I'll be screwed with my PARF of 30k. So in the end, in order not to loose a forest for a tree, I reverted the deal to PARF + body and forwent the few hundred bucks I would have saved. On the LTA side, the difference with PARF + body is the car ownership is transferred, just like a normal sale. When the transfer is done, the car of course no longer belongs to you and de-reg is not your business. LTA website is a bitch. You can read it a hundred times but still you won't get the exact answer you need. Calling them is another bitch - some one will call you back but still you will not get the straight and direct answer you are looking for. For your case, your dealer is pretty honest, who told you he's going to drive up north (lol). From my account above, it should be rather easy for you to decide. I hope your deduction is no deal. Good luck.

Kevin613 1st Gear March 15, 2015 Share March 15, 2015 Just tell him if he wanna export it to Malaysia, go thru the proper channel else no deal. If he gets nasty, make a police report and refer to LTA for such under table practice there's no proper channel to export the car to malaysia, as far as i know, and those cars that are exported there illegally will only be sold in cash term, no loans, and will have problem reselling later.. Reo 4th Gear March 25, 2015 Share March 25, 2015 There's a report today on average one car is stolen every day. I was taken aback at first but it said the thefts happened mostly in JB. I tie it back to this thread. Are these car thefts de-registrations in disguise ?
