Any new owners invited for the Subaru New Owner workshop on 19 Nov and planning to go. Anyone who has gone do you recon going? Thanks folks..

You may get some additional information and tips. My session was 30-50% marketing. Some useful information on the vehicle. If you have any questions about the info in the instruction manual, this is a good session to ask about it. Don't expect them to comment on whether mods will affect warranty. Their position is yes it affects warranty.

I think it is a good effort on MI part.

Yes. I have the same noise. I was told by MI this is the CVT characteristics due to subaru using chain....but it seems only on FNA. Any FXT bro having the same issue?

Believe it happen to all FNA.

Is from the CVT chain and hope Subaru look into this

Last week was in California visiting a customer whose Son brought a brand new VW Tiguan and I told him I drive a Forester XT. He mentioned he nearly got that too but given the Tiguan only cost 2K more so he got the Tiguan.

While we were walking around his new car I ask so how much he paid. US 32K for a brand new Tiguan...

Moments like this made me wonder what I will be driving if I lived in USA...

Totally random post....

Aviva cost about 1.3k for 34yr old male with 10 years driving exp and 20% Ncd. Comprehensive btw. Can repair at MI and covers act of God too.

1.3k ok liao

My wife 32 civil servant 40% ncd is 1.4k.

Guess aviva label women driving a forester = danger

Wahahahha

So far whats ur mileage per tank?

Yup the cx5 is a pretty boy. Looks big and majestic on the outside especially in pearl white. Interior space is ok only. But front 2 seats are a bit narrow.

Owned a 2L before. Skyactive engine is not as refined especially during startup and initial acceleration. The fxt will bring u to places at speeds and any unfavourable conditions where the cx5 can only dream of. The handling of the cx5 and skyactive suspension is considered very good until u drive a forester...

Forester handling and suspension not good?

Many years ago, my cousin owned a WRX, and he had a delay ignition cut off-setup in his car. Basically what this does is when he reaches his destination, he turns off his ignition, gets out of the car locks it, but the engine is still running for a pre-set period of time, than it will shut down. The reason for this was that turbo engines need to idle a while after coming to a stop to let it cool down, before stopping the engine. Don't seem to see any discussion on this, so should we let the car idle for a few minutes before shutting down?

It is called a turbo timer and is actually un-necessary, yet because of cost, is one of the first things people fit when they start modifying their car.

The logic is that the turbo timer ensures that the engine continues running to allow the turbocharger to cool down gradually. Stopping an engine suddenly causes the turbocharger to cook, as air no longer circulates.

However, practicing good driving habits of having a cool-down cycle before you shut down, is good enough in my opinion. It could be as simple as just arriving and driving in your MSCP till you find a parking lot. So long as you're not on boost, it will begin cooling down.

Hey Bros,

My week-old FXT starts off every morning heating up at rpm 1.5K and above, is this normal?

Also, today the tailgate can't open when I use the remote boot release and press the rear tailgate button. Called my SE, she said sometimes boot not closed properly must pull up manually due to electronic nature. I tot if boot not closed properly, shld have warning signal. Wonder if this is normal too among Forester?

FXT rite, that's very good FC. How about FNA FC? 10-11km/l too?

FNA fuel consumption base on manual calculation on fuel used vs distance is in a range of 10.5 km/ltr

If I'm not wrong, car must be in parking mode then can open rear tailgate.  Do not hold the open button too long, just a tap will do.

At Parking mode during morning start up, rmp will be higher.  If put to D mode and step on brake rmp will go down.

Just my observation.

Yes, in parking mode, but I need to press button on my remote or car for at least 1-2 secs before tailgate sound to open....
