Neutral Newbie

Hi guys,

Collected my new FNA one week+.  Since day 1, I have been hearing a whirring or humming noise from the car when the speed is around 10-30 km/h especially cruising in carpark or slow traffic on the road.  Just wonder anybody here also hear the same noise from your new car?

Yes. I have the same noise. I was told by MI this is the CVT characteristics due to subaru using chain....but it seems only on FNA. Any FXT bro having the same issue?

My ride is a Forester XT about 1.5 months old and so far I don't experience any such noise . XT has smooth and a powerful acceleration which is it's most endearing characteristic. Forget to mention the XT also utilize CVT too.

I gave up the 300 discount for in house insurance and went for own insurer. Still used MI agent but premium was equal to what I was quoted directly y the insurer. Still worked out cheaper and your profile in both age and NCD is better than mine ð

Haha... age better, means I'm older or younger?

Turbocharged

Ermm.CX-5 price ard harrier..i guess that the reason why i dont see much of it on the road..

And.. diesel is the unknown factor now in SG. First they are talking abt removing CEVS rebate from diesel passenger car, next could be increase diesel tax.. and DCT gearbox is worrying..

My 3rd choice was the kia carens though, need to see how our govt policies change next year

CX-5 also not as spacious as Harrier or Forester, and Mazda is just not as strong in Singaporean mentality as Toyota.

And most of the people who wanna buy upper-size compact crossovers don't think about handling which is one of CX-5's strongest key points in the class.

Hi

My 1.5 years old forester NA battery (old type that uses battery water) from MI is getting weaker. Used better tester only get 11.3v when engine is not start, thought it has achieve 14.3v when engine is running. Any recommendations for replacing the no-maintenance battery and cost ?

Thanks

Did u check the battery water level? Sometimes checking it and spending $2 can save $130-180 on new battery.. I personally prefer this kind of old school battery than Mantenance free battery as MF battery most often will suddenly died...

My Brother drive a cx5 2.5, the handling no better than the FXT, and it's much smaller in the cabin.. really no desire to drive this cx5 at all

Aviva cost about 1.3k for 34yr old male with 10 years driving exp and 20% Ncd. Comprehensive btw. Can repair at MI and covers act of God too.

Yup the cx5 is a pretty boy. Looks big and majestic on the outside especially in pearl white. Interior space is ok only. But front 2 seats are a bit narrow.

Owned a 2L before. Skyactive engine is not as refined especially during startup and initial acceleration. The fxt will bring u to places at speeds and any unfavourable conditions where the cx5 can only dream of. The handling of the cx5 and skyactive suspension is considered very good until u drive a forester...
