with the new Vehicular Emissions Scheme (VES) kicking in 1st jan 2018, forester price will shoot up?

My 2 cents.

Quite likely. VES on the forester will probably be +20k (compared to +5k CEV currently).

I'm sure MI will have to pass this on to buyers.

However, I'm guessing that MI will slowly increase the pricing through the year so that the increase come the new year isn't as obvious. Also, they'll be expecting more people to be buying the FXT before the VES kicks in.

looks like this really may be true that we might get Eyesight, since new XV all versions with Eyesight default..

well let's hope so! if MI starts bringing in for Taiwan, then would see the same for the rest of the region.

it really feels stupid when other car brands advertises their halfway-there active safety technology and claims like 1st brand to do so, and yet Subaru has them for over 10years and way better (probably to the par of Mercedes and behind Volvo).

really wish MI would take the bold step to claim back this title as Subaru's most important technology to beat the market besides AWD.

new SGP-based XV already launched... hopefully Forester is next in Tokyo Motor Show 2017 since no other models are due for model change...

My wife can't stand the sound of the horn, change it immediately after collect the car yesterday, recommend by the SE for the air Horn, $80. [laugh]

For those that changed out your car horn, is the stock horn a high+low tones horn or just a single tone horn?

Alarm and speed lock available at MI. Cost is 330 + 30

Was wondering if MI will install only the auto door lock without the alarm ...costing $30 plus labor charges. Anyone here got any idea ? Thanks

Don't have high hope. As long as there is omv, they will strip it off for Spore mkt Edited by jg2000

Subaru Japan may not bother to do so cos' Singapore is a twinny whiny market in terms of Subaru car sales.

doesn't make economic sense for them.

Bro, I asked them already. Cannot. Alarm is a must for the auto lock to work.

So if its $127k become $147k.... think they can stop selling.... unless one is a die hard Forester fan or some wire loose in the head....

The Subaru paint job not that job if a simple nick can cause the underlying metal to be exposed.

If you DIY it may not look nice and the repair will be seen. Send to some paint workshop for repairs. It may cost less and look better in the end because they have the materials and equipment. May be some members here could recommend one.

DIY:

Sand down the spot remove the rust.

Apply rust converter just to be sure (optional)

Sand again to smoothen (use very fine grain sandpaper)

Apply primer

Apply paint

Thanks! In the end, I made do with a touchup @ MI.

To be fair, it was quite a nasty nick caused by contact against the sharp edge of metal box.

Still will have people buying one, if they need to replace their car.

A few years ago, when Altis was like 120k, people still buy ma.

It's all about relative value. If a Forester is at $147k but other similar cars in the shortlist cost more, then it's still ok.

Buyers mindset is shaped by the market too. That's why people still buy even when COE was at 90k
