Tohto Hypersonic March 18, 2017 Share March 18, 2017 Yes, I noticed that as well, though I rarely engaged in S#. However, surprisingly, the FC is about the same despite that the RPM is higher in S mode. Why is that so?At S mode engine is keep in best power band around 2k rpm. You hardly need to hit hard on the accelerator to get it move fast. Just slight tap will do. So engine is always at a constant keep which is good for FC. ↡ Advertisement
Savvy777 1st Gear March 18, 2017 Share March 18, 2017 Just to clarify any misconception based on some follow up comment by bros. Forester originally comes with fog light and can be used under the right condition - extreme low visibility situation. Who says there isn't this type of situation in Singapore ? I am sure many brothers use the fog light before, one time or the other in the course of driving over the years when situation warrants it.I would put it in another angle, we can live without fog light in Singapore unless the ice age returns (pun intended :) For now, the fog light is just a piece of ornamental hardware to me. Solely, IMO.
kermitfm 4th Gear March 18, 2017 Share March 18, 2017 I would put it in another angle, we can live without fog light in Singapore unless the ice age returns (pun intended :) For now, the fog light is just a piece of ornamental hardware to me. Solely, IMO. I agree. What we experience in Singapore is mist. The difference between mist and fog is visibility (fog has lower visibility). Using normal headlamps in a fog will make visibility much lower because the height is higher and the throw more directional towards the front. This cause back scatter which lowers the visibility. Fog lights are mounted lower and the spread is wider. This reduce the forward throw and lowers the back scatter. More importantly, it spreads wider so the driver can see the the side of the roads better. And this is the reason why it is illegal to drive with fog lights on when the weather is good. Since the spread is wider, it causes more glare to on-coming traffic which is on the side. The main headlamp, because it is more directional, does not spill over to the other lane. A fog lioght does.
ChristopherChia 4th Gear March 18, 2017 Share March 18, 2017 The Forester's back brake light is small. Anyone converted the rear reflector to brake light ones?
Sarion 4th Gear March 18, 2017 Share March 18, 2017 >>>> - Followed a BMW 5 series and a Lexus RX at one stage, and was travelling at 160+ km/h for a while without realizing how fast I was going, the engine was not straining at all, and it still felt very stable. So if you are brave/stupid enough to try on Malaysian highways, and probably need better tyres than the stock ones, I think 200+ km/h is easily achievable the car will go to almost where the speedo stops and that's > 200km/h. old legacy owners have proven that it can go to 260km/h before, so I am quite sure FA20DIT will do the same too. I changed my fog lights with a set of LED bulbs. Purchased a set from AliExpres which costs around US$8 with delivery. It fitted perfectly into the fog light slot. Make sure u choose the H11 base bulb which will fit exactly the 2016 Forester. The bulb comes with a socket base ( just like the stock bulb) and u just plug to the car's wire connector for it to work. It emits very strong & bright light that make your car very visible to every motorist around you LEDs are high heat devices... u sure u wanna trust a no reputation US$8 unit near the engine bay? sometimes there's a reason why bulbs like Philips, PIAA cost so much, cos' there is $ spent in R&D to ensure they don't burn up in the car and destroy something else or the whole car. have experienced cheapo pole LED die very fast in my car due to heat besides a HID reflector unit, but changed to Philips and lasted over 3yr now still no issue.

First off, don't know how you guys get such good mileage, in Singapore I barely manage 9 km/l, maybe it's my driving style and/route. Interesting on the use of I vs S mode, on the highway cruising at a steady speed, in S mode I definitely got worse mileage, but been driving on S recently and although the revs seem to be higher at corresponding speeds, at the end of the trip the mileage per trip seems to be better?????? I'm wondering if the type and brand of petrol makes a difference too, as I recently switched from Shell to Mobil.

Thanks bro for highlighting possible over heating hazard Anyway, so far I haven't use the fog lights in Singapore and probably only use it when driving in Malaysia under poor visibility condition
ECONOMIC 4th Gear March 19, 2017 Share March 19, 2017 Just back from MI today for my 10K servicing. I enquired about maintenance package and I sign up for the existing 2 years / 4 services package @ $1355 . SE said new maintenance package not out yet but likely to be more costly. It will replace the existing package very soon .SE told me that MI has surge of sales in recent 1 year, mainly forester. Their servicing workload suddenly increase and can't handle well. So they are increasing their servicing fees.those who haven't buy pls be aware. Those who bought can wait to see how much increase. Normal servicing outside won't void warranty right? Anyone knows? If will void, aren't we tied to MI servicing for 5 years, even if they increase servicing fee?

If they increase servicing price too much, i may just have to let go the warranty. Made in japan suppose to be reliable right? Ha ha... this is stupid. Bluemice 2nd Gear March 19, 2017 Share March 19, 2017 I thought LEDs are supposed to be cooler? Hi, the heat dissipation for halogen is forward, towards the light direction. while for LED is towards the rear (i.e. housing side) which explains for the heat sinks. So for a poorly designed LED bulb, its the housing that starts to melt first, something unheard of in halogens.
