Anybody change their fog lights to LED? Any recommendation?

I changed my fog lights with a set of LED bulbs. Purchased a set from AliExpres which costs around US$8 with delivery. It fitted perfectly into the fog light slot. Make sure u choose the H11 base bulb which will fit exactly the 2016 Forester. The bulb comes with a socket base ( just like the stock bulb) and u just plug to the car's wire connector for it to work. It emits very strong & bright light that make your car very visible to every motorist around you

Agree with u on the performance part of fxt. Going 160km/h at nshw is considered conservative Liao. Got once I was in a mad rush and I was hitting 150+ in eh... ahem.. without me realising. The ride comfort can be better if u use premium touring tyres such as Michelin primacy 3. Pump to 230kpa at cold and nothing more and u will surely appreciate the improvement in ride comfort. Not to worry as fc is not affected from my experience. The stock Bridgestone are not too comfortable and dry grip is so so.

The fxt is actually a much more refined car than what most people think.

Yeah, I think all the FXT owners know that it's a lot more refined and capable than anything else at this price point.

As for hitting 150+ elsewhere, yeah did that when I first got the car, as it accelerated a lot faster than my previous ride. As for 160+ being conservative, maybe for the car, but not for the tyres. (Used to use Michelins too, these are my first set of Bridgestones in a very long time)

Planning to change tyres after 40K (probably to Michelin again) and get different shock absorbers put in. Maybe add window tinting as well, as it was a hot day the trip back, and really felt that the MI provided window tint quite mediocre

Hi All,

Just did my second run to Melaka and back last weekend, and thought to share my thoughts:

As a reference, my FXT is a year old at the end of March and I had 17,000+ km on the clock, with stock tyres and I am using 0W30 oil from MI from my last servicing at 10,000.

- Whoever tells you that you get better mileage at higher speeds using S or S# instead of I has no idea what he/she is talking about. Tried different modes over extended periods, and deffinitely I mode will give you better mileage regardless of situation.

- Cruising at 120 - 130 km/h most of the time, averaged about 11 km/L

- Excelleration at most speeds is effortless

- Followed a BMW 5 series and a Lexus RX at one stage, and was travelling at 160+ km/h for a while without realizing how fast I was going, the engine was not straining at all, and it still felt very stable. So if you are brave/stupid enough to try on Malaysian highways, and probably need better tyres than the stock ones, I think 200+ km/h is easily achievable

- Ride is choppy at lower speeds, and at higher speeds, a bit harsh, but OK.

- Noise in the cabin is in general pretty good, most of the noise you hear is the tyre noise, and of course more noticeably on the rougher surfaces and at higher speeds, but the engine not noticeable most of the time, and little to no wind noise.

So in general, very capable of cruising at high speeds with good levels of noise comfort, but I think some improvements in the suspension needed for butt and back comfort.

Agree regarding the I mode. When cruising at 120 (around 2k RPM) in I mode, if you shift to S mode, RPM goes up slightly.

If you shift to S#, jumps close to 3K.

So best fuel consumption should be I mode with the lowest RPM

Just drove back from KL. Spent an hour plus cleaning off what must be half the insect population of Msia off my front grill, headlights and windscreen.

Found a huge grasshopper flattened against the subaru logo.

I hoping TP can take action against those with fig light on. We dont need to on here. Unless go Genting.

In europe, you can be easily stop by the police when driving with fog light on when there is no fog.

Was parked at Bugis junction, door handle touch lock and unlock not responding, end up use the key fob buttons. When approaching car, cabin lights still light up. Both door handles the same. Same with both key fobs.

I suspected some external signal interference. Drove to another place and no issues.

Anyone encountered before or can explain what happened?

Car got in June last year, FXT.

Hi... Thks for sharing! I will call up MI to ask for e existing package :)

Just back from MI today for my 10K servicing. I enquired about maintenance package and I sign up for the existing 2 years / 4 services package @ $1355 . SE said new maintenance package not out yet but likely to be more costly. It will replace the existing package very soon .

Just to clarify any misconception based on some follow up comment by bros. Forester originally comes with fog light and can be used under the right condition - extreme low visibility situation. Who says there isn't this type of situation in Singapore ? I am sure many brothers use the fog light before, one time or the other in the course of driving over the years when situation warrants it.

Low visibility situation, maybe yes IF you use the OEM foglight. But when? I hv been all over SG even Jln Batera but there is no need for foggies

If you change to those bright LED kind, you will freaking blind those in front of you. Whether low light visibility or not.

The contention here is not the using of fog lights (if situation permits) but those aftermarket kind that is too bright and as you quoted, emits very strong & bright light that make your car very visible to every motorist around you, This is the issue.

It's LED fog light and designed in a way such that it is very bright to be seen around the front bumper and below area but it doesn't project its bright light far ahead to blind others. Works just like the stock fog light only difference is it's more noticeable

The true facts is many after market light will blind others car driver.

And the problem is those changing to this aftermarket fog lights 80% will turn it ON on a clear night.

Yes, I noticed that as well, though I rarely engaged in S#. However, surprisingly, the FC is about the same despite that the RPM is higher in S mode. Why is that so?

Just to share for more analysis and comparison. Not to dispute what you observed.

I am still at Melaka. On the trip here, I am cruising at 120-125 in S mode. About 12.5 km/l or 8.0 l/100km.

In Singapore, I did try to use primary I mode for 1-2 tank of petrol. Not much difference. I achieve the usual 11.5-12 km/l as in S mode.

Stock tyres and standard oil from MI. Just reach 10k. Will do 10k servicing after return from Melaka.
