Jp66 5th Gear March 4, 2017 Share March 4, 2017 (edited) all the countries managed by MI (spore, msia, Taiwan, hongkong, Thailand) does not have Eyesight option. cos' the company does not value human lives.... you can see that even with SGP (Subaru Global Platform) launch with new Impreza here, still not Eyesight. and in Japan, Subaru actually developing Eyesight 4 soon. they are already able to demonstrate semi autonomous driving with Eyesight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2tlfez9cAs the JDM version has everthing that we mentioned here (blindspot, auto highbeam, reversing collision alarm) but here no, only in Levorg, Legacy, Impreza (option for 2.0L but standard for 1.6L, how odd...). although we get autodim mirrors which Japan also somehow does not have, that's the funny part. but new XV that will be launched next week in Geneva will probably have all these tech as well similar to Impreza except Eyesight here of cos... u can try writing to Subaru Japan but I guess it will fall on deaf ears even though we have the $ to pay for the option. even the previous FHI Japanese rep that I wrote to (yes there was this Sasaki-san) does not bother to reply... anyone knows how to contact Mr Tan or his Marketing Manager? we can always petition on change.org to show our collective opinion. unless our 70% chosen garmen does some legislation on active safety technology requirements in passenger cars, probably 50years from now, none of the Jap and Korean importers will care unlike the Continental brands... according to the commentator (video at 16:26), if Taiwan starts to bring in Eyesight for XV in June, follow by other models. I hope it won't be too long other countries to follow... Edited March 4, 2017 by Jp66
Tohto Hypersonic March 4, 2017 Share March 4, 2017 according to the commentator (video at 16:26), if Taiwan starts to bring in Eyesight for XV in June, follow by other models. I hope it won't be too long other countries to follow... Taiwan have no OMV, ARF etc... With OMV, $1k increased in OMV will be a few $k increase in final selling price here. Many buyer here still don't put safety in the front priority for car purchase. Just look at the number of Altis on the road, with bare basic safety features. therock Supersonic March 4, 2017 Share March 4, 2017 IMO, I could do with a few less HP, leather and take Eyesight instead.. YMMV

Xefera 6th Gear March 5, 2017 Share March 5, 2017 anyone noticed a ticking sound coming from the bottom right of the steering column when the wiper is in operation? Noticed that is a rhythmic pattern that goes 2 ticks every 8 secs. managed to trace down to the rear windscreen wiper. same kinda of sound feedback by other owners regarding the front headlamps when they switched on in auto mode. WLL ah. Enforcement of any kind sure kena comprain. Hv to answer to MP when ppl cry farder marder after kena saman for safety breaches. Collect COE, road tax, transfer fee, number plate retention fee get pat on the back by gahmen. No prizes for guessing which they would rather spend time on..... therock Supersonic March 5, 2017 Share March 5, 2017 IMHO For safety features to become standard, the decision needs to be taken out of the hands of the buyers. If there's an opt out choice that makes the car cheaper, it won't happen. Or safety features don't fall under the OMV tax. Unless there is a spectacular accident, with significant number of deaths. Otherwise the aim is to bring in the car with the lowest OMV.
