Tying to find out EBC brake pad yellow stuff for FNA size, can't find any info online.....

 

Anyone here order before can share the part number? Check for most of the shop, they all don't keep ready stock...

Glad to see this forum is very active. I am a fairly new owner of FXT (got mine in end Nov 17), and have been trying to read up all 700+ pages of this forum. Initially, I tried to read from pg 1, but realize it will take me ages to catch up, hence I decided to read backwards from the most recent pages. Haha

 

Sorry, for using short cut method, but I need advice on the following :

1) I have been trying to fix the wheel alignment, car keeps steer left. After bring to MI 3 times and most recent on 9th June during my 10k servicing, but still no success even after rotating the tyres. I have tried asking Kenny wheel alignment, but he said no guarantee. Any bros have any solution to this?

 

2) I have read up some posts mentioned by you guys on installing front strut and ARB. Is anti-roll bar same as anti-sway bar? Is it ok if I just install ARB without front strut bar?

I had a similar issue on my Forester ie. Steering wheel straight but car will steer slightly right. My regular wheel alignment workshop at enterprise hub couldn’t solve the issue despite several attempts.

 

In the end, I went to people’s auto at ubi which I used to frequent for my previous car. 1 time alignment and it was fixed. It’s a simple humble shop (go there and you know what i mean) but I’ve seen Ferraris, GTR and other exotic cars doing their alignment there.

More seriously, indeed good tyres a must but taiwanese big 4 like RLogic (without dust cap) from Racetech is 1.2k with both front and SSBH nia which no brake pads can compare in my opinion ... it is different system altogether.

 

At least for my estima, I went one big round to trd sport pads with well known releigh SSBH and then slotted/drill rotors but only to get also taiwanese big 4 JBT which is way way better which the initial also cost me just as much ... you will have to put 12 pots to make your braking system to have trouble and even my 6/4 356mm rotors do not push the comfort based Michelin Primacy 3 ST enough to have ABS activated ... our master cylinder is still the same unless that is also modded which I have no experience.  Hence RLogic Big 4 for my qashqai and KSport Big6/4 for my forester when I wanted the improvement for my wife and myself respectively which is uneventful for those concern on Taiwanese BBK ..  they are just mechanical parts that Taiwanese are more than capable to design and manufacture from their know-hows acquired decades ago from industrialization.

 

Will be changing to a bit more aggressive tyres like Michelin Lat Sport like yours but also cannot have too noisy for 99% ride time or early wear off performance tyres like PSS4 tried once before noise intrusion after barely 20k km while it drives on wet road like sunny dry roads ...... but this is highly subjective decision from your own experience on full on performance or full on comfort vs this safety related braking performance. 

 

Lastly, just to explain a little more .... if I am driving an Audi or Merc with nice ride from great suspension set up and great sound insulation, I would likely go performance tyres but not on this forester,

Hi Richard, I have checked out the price quoted for RLogic "18" front get 355 6 pot rear 330 4 pot - $3300" or "Front n rear all 4 pot $2800" .....    They are not sure the stock XT rims can clear or not, but can try or drop by to their shop and check out further...   

 

Believe stock is difficult to clear above, so can only consider brake pad n SSBH ....

Aaah ... you are gunning for big 6/4 front/rear .. keke !!  Should be about there as my KSport big 6/4 front/rear is sgd4k.

 

For stock 18" rim, it will certainly NOT clear big 6/4 but the hope/discussion was that big 4 front with front/rear SSBH included at sgd1.2k will clear stock 18" rim .. will be better than just mentioned front/rear brake pad and SSBH ... sorry for being not clear.

Sorry for the confusion.

 

What you received at sgd3.3k for front/rear 6/4 is RLogic.

 

What I recommended is RLogic front 4 only at 1.2k with front and rear SSBH because they throw in upgrade for the rear SSBH also even if you did not upgrade the rear stock caliper/pad.

On this topic. If we change just the front pad or pad plus rotor or even just front BBK leaving the rear stock, wouldnt brake bias be disturbed also since front would be way stronger than rear?

You may not get optimum performance but nothing major to be concerned about and still an upgraded improvement.

 

Bbk is not on higher clamping force which probably the same with same master brake pump but also better cooling to prevent fade, betta modulation etc. etc.

Hmm ok. Anyway just placed an order for the dimming mirror. Was driving yesterday evening, the glare made the decision for me lol. Really didn't expect the glare to be like a sedan with our ride height.

It is not just the matter of the number of "pots"

 

It is also the effective area of the brake pads coming in contact with the rotors.

 

Equal and sufficient amount of hydraulic pressure from the calipers applied onto the the brake pads and from the pads to the rotors.

 

If the braking force applied is unequal and exceed the limit, in example; braking force in the front is weaker than rear. The braking distance of the vehicle will increase.

 

As in normal drive, the AWD is split 60:40 and self adjust to 50:50 (dependent on driving conditions). Weight distribution of the vehicle between front and rear axles are to be considered too.

 

To further improve braking performance, could also consider upgrading the brake booster too.

 

Regular change of brake fluids, as brake fluid are hygroscopic; to maintain braking system efficiency.

 

Anyway, Subaru is using Tokico brake system.

Still betta but not VFM ??  As bro mentioned, braking performance is 70/30 or 60/40 front/rear depending on car mfgr design.

The customer servive executive mentioned that the part no. given (ST20330SF010 and ST20380SF010)is only applicable for the vehicle year model 11/2012 TO 02/2017. Therefore not for the newer cars. Not too sure how accurate the customer service is. Any idea where else we can contact? Can't seem to find STI contact on their website

I don't really trust MI CS.... what i understand that Forester for FXT is SJG and FNA is SJ5 when I am checking the parts compatible... even sometime the parts for SJG also compatible to SJ5, like Cusco front tower bar....

 

For FNA, I think just choose the N/A (non-turbo) for the STI pink spring, quite sure it is fit, cos got bros already installed which the model sure after 02/2017.... this is my nxt upgrade which was added in my wish list... is just a matter of time to go....
