Quite a few of bros with Forester more than 2yrs had the motor spoil already.

Including mine. Especially high mileage driver like me that drive and park a lot.

To replace one motor is $400++.

I had already disable the auto fold and left the faulty motor unchange on the right mirror.

You can ask in the chat group.

Hi Tohto,

Oops ... time to get spares on standby cos my modded side mirrors with not have warranty..

Thanks for the share ... was not aware forester has this issue but no autofolding to me is no go .. lol !

Cheers.

Richard

Hi,just to chip in after reading the post to different modifications done by different bros here. Would like to chip in that my side mirror motor was also burned off after a while installing the auto fold mirror. After asking MI about the cost as it seems odd with only one side of the mirror folding,it costs $500 plus without install and GST. In the end I was recommend by a friend to just change the motor. Went to a shop at turf city to take a look and confirmed is the motor gone. The motor itself is like the tamiya cars those motor which are quite small. Main thing is the cost is only $80 and it took less then 45 mins with the dismantle and tear down of the side mirror and installing the new motor in and putting everything back. This is a way cheaper fix compared to changing the whole housing if your motor is burnt. Will share the phone number and you can check with them as I donât want to sound like I am advertising for them or anything. Ah Le 8408 6869

Thanks so much for sharing this info!

Hi bros,

Different strokes for different folks on some comments seen on new forester 2019 having ebrake that seems preferred.

Please note that bbk upgrade if needed will be more complicated aka expensive aka more risky especially with local ws claiming that they can do it.

Furthermore, hope you will not have my unresolved issue for >9 mths with qashqai's ebrake that does not release when left 2-3 days :(

Cheers.

Richard

AD sure say change the whole mirror assembly lah.. They wanna make $$$

Hi Dig,

Guess also they cannot be trained to repair all parts ta avoid more customer dissatisfsction nor will they be efficient for hours compared to swap in minutes.

Cheers.

Richard

Is that after $2K off non guaranteed COE and $3K off trade in car? Or is 90.8K the list price?

Do note SE and loan may impact outcome.

Standard Package

1. Trade-in 3k discount

2. NG COE 2K discount

3. Accessories worth 1K

4. Min loan $30k at least one year

5. 1k + 10k servicing

6. 5 years or 100k warranty for engine & gearbox

Opt out 1K accessories rebate, below are the items you can negotiate for:

1.solar film

2.front & back dvr

3.carmat

4.front sensor

5.rear cargo tray

6.rear cargo step panel

7.safety brake lock

8.auto folding mirror

A good SE can give you all of the above as MI needs to clear old inventory for the new model. Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Thanks for the information, have been considering for the longest time on the old FNA, but missed the expo deal.

Do you mean opt out of the 1k accessories rebate but we can still try to negotiate for the items? My SE seemed quite firm that she wasn't going to offer anything extra.

Faced the same problem initially, where the SE was indifferent & like take it or leave it attitude. Gave me a feeling that these SEs are doing so well that losing a sale is nothing. Anyway, the standard offer for accessories are usually solarfilm, front & back DVR and one to two more items. MI will deduct whatever accessories given fm the 1K. If you think the accessories offer does not meet your expectation, you can minus off $1K fm the selling price & install on your own.

Hello, hope to get some advice from fellow members on below:

1. Roughly how much would it cost to retrieve the aftermarket audio equipment from car before scrap. The items are HU, CD player, speakers & Amp.

2. Recommend a good ICE shop at the East side.

3. Recommended audio upgrade for 2013-18 Forester. Not an audiophile but enjoy nice songs whilst driving.

Thanks in advance.

I'm wondering if that is an earthing issue because with the modification -- when its done, the mirror is full time connected to battery, as opposed to only when accessory power is on (the non-auto fold mirror need accessory power to move, hence non functional once power fully off)

Just saw this post. As replied to other Tohto. Standard AD requiremnt to change out the whole item. But motor change out by outside shop may affect the warranty (only applicable in first 5y/ 100K km of course)

Hi Sultan,

Driver or passenger memory seats are standalone gadget not needing ecu control and should be do-able.

Just buy parts from available forester ones and rewire to include this mod ... learnt this after transplanting wrx sti limited seats that memory seat and non-memory seats are the same.

Cheers.

Richard

Thanks Richard, that's an interesting detail. I'll probably have to wait till warranty validity expires to do it though

Another thing that surprised me is the amount of electrical work that seems to be needed for installing a power tailgate

at this price the new Forester cost $13k more, not that significant for most buyers but with much better safety feature of Eyesight and probably better fuel mileage with new DIT engine and 7speed CVT. should go try and consider...
