Happy CNY to all,

Glad to see the thread I started is still alive. haha

As promised in my earlier posts, this is to update my car status.

Been 2 years 2 months since I collected my ride, mileage now ~49,100km.

Still going strong!

Looking forward to the next milestone at 60,000km.

Cheers!

I’m hitting my 60k soon too... gonna be a big ticket on servicing at VW just to maintain the warranty.

Will VW still keep the warranty if I service outside with proper documentation?

Wow, quite high utilisation.

B8 was released in SG at end of 2015, right?

Did the typical offer then come with 5 year warranty or 100,000km mileage?

Yes, I got pre-owned high mileage car.

It covered 52k in 1 1/2 years.

Warranty back then was only 3 years.

How come the free servicing given by Volkswagen is at 15k, 30k and 45k while VAG servicing interval is every 10k?

Passat owners, do you really service your cars every 15k?

Thanks bro!

That’s indeed a long list!

However I think 60k service will also include accessory belt change but not all fluid replacement.

I intend to keep a 7.5k service interval, just an oil and filter change. Just supermarket Shell oil with compatible filter. As long as the oil adheres to VW502.00 standard.

Then stick to regular 15k interval as per handbook.

I just made an appt next week to service my car at VW JB. See how that goes... RM$1500++ for 60k service.

Sounds like a good idea to do a mid-interval check. Maybe I'll bring to my regular workshop to see if anything needs to be topped up or changed. Almost 7k already.

Anyone knows how to lower the glovebox?

I can’t reach the pollen filter holder..

You can skip right to 50 sec.

Haha I was watching that video before I posted for help!

Anyway I lowered the glovebox liao, it’s just that the clips are very tight. Once undone, changing the pollen filter is easy, like a jap car!

Anyway, for the info of all B8 owners, the part number for the stock pollen filter is: VW-AG 5Q0819669.

I replaced it with a K&N cabin air filter with part number: VF2047.

It fits snugly!

Am glad to learn that.

I had K&N engine air filter for my previous car.  To my shock, Cycle & Carriage replaced it without me knowing about it, and I found out about it months later.  I suggest you leave a bi-lingual note about it being reusable and not to be replaced during VW's routine servicing, just in case.

This is my last service at VW centre. My next service will be after warranty period.. so no chance of my K&N being thrown out! But thanks for the heads up!

Thinking of brining my car next to Servo Autoworkz. Offshoot of Servotronics.

Anyone for feedback on them?

Servo is now bad, dirty, dusty and completely lacking in hand on and communication issue, the staff do all the running of w/s, the clerk is useless, everything don't know, only know how to bill customer, i was charged more than expected when I asked why these extra charge, she answered" Don't know le " must ask boss . . . poor servitude.

all their mechanics are malaysian, not bad but has apathetic attitude, strictly " bo chup ", not too sure any brothers experience it other than me.

Work wise, thy never cover the drover seat with a plastic cover, result stained all over, window not wind up, all dusty, the engine compartment was messy, I got to pick up the pieces myself and have to sent my car for car wash. Poor hand over.

Better go back to Servortonic.
