EvenStar 1st Gear May 13, 2016 Share May 13, 2016 Looks like this model isn't selling well after all. Only 5 Ford MPV/Stationwagons sold in March and 4 sold in April. In comparison, BMW is selling truckloads of the 2GT, 59 MPV/Stationwagons in March and 88 in April. Source:https://www.lta.gov.sg/content/dam/ltaweb/corp/PublicationsResearch/files/FactsandFigures/M03-Car_Regn_by_make.pdf Went to car expo to have a look at this car but it was not on display, ask whether car in showroom, SE say NO. SE info only 10 cars make it to SGP shore, only 1 odd color (light blue) left in the warehouse. Ask when new batch will arrive, was told may or may not come again... How to sell well if there nothing to sell... ha ha ha… confirms my guess. i had checked out most MPVs around, and even saw the Grand Voyager at car@expo. Had wanted to see this one too, and was surprised it wasn't there. Already guessed it's like Kah Motor who displayed one old HRV there (went with a colleague to Ubi showroom last month and SE said no more stock of old one from Thailand, and new one from Jap arrives only in Sep).

EvenStar 1st Gear May 16, 2016 Share May 16, 2016 (edited) Thanks for this link. Side-track a bit: took a closer look as i've never come across this before. Interesting to see that during the period, Rolls Royce sold six times more cars than Daihatsu… wonder how the latter will survive... Some AD just not good in selling car. But to be fair to Daihatsu's local AD, their car is not appealing in SGP market. Regent Motor on the other hand has no excuse for not doing well. Over the past few years, Ford has show that it can make good and attractive car. If Mazda can out sell Ford by 22 times while VW also manage to get 10 times more cars on the road that show how bad is Ford's AD in marketing their car. Speedygonz 1st Gear May 16, 2016 Share May 16, 2016 So...Christopher Tan's review not much effect huh? I guess Singaporean knows a good deal when they see one. Non-existent marketing, low supply and strong competition all led to the poor performance of an otherwise decent model. With the 2GT gaining so much traction in sales, those looking for mid-sized 7-seaters will likely just jump on the bandwagon due to the broad availability of parts, expertise and accessories. It's complacency... look at VW... after they decide to sell the cars themselves, see how their market share has gone up. Before that, their previous authorized dealer simply sold enough at high enough margins to pad their coffers... did nothing for the VW brand in Singapore. Same issue with Regent Motors... need a shake up from Ford itself... wait till another rich dude comes along and challenge for the dealership...
Spring Moderator May 16, 2016 Share May 16, 2016 From what I understand from a local Ford SE, Ford parent exports only a restricted no. of cars to our shores. They claim worldwide demand restricts their capability to provide more cars to us (I took it with a pinch of salt). And it is this reason that Regent doesn't do much marketing of Ford cars as no point cos even if demand picks up, they can't match on the supply side, so the SE says. True or not, I leave it to you guys to discern. My take is the answer is likely somewhere in between. It could be that Ford parent not so generous on the supply side but I also feel Regent is not showing enough commitment to the parent that they can sell more or perhaps they worried they will be stuck if they ordered too much? Either way perhaps a new AD should be best for all concerned if Regent is not up to mark, my 2 cents......
airfresh 2nd Gear May 16, 2016 Share May 16, 2016 Yes. Ford should find another AD or do it themselves. I think the pricing is important. Look at Citroen, their MPV is selling alright cause the C4 Grand Picasso is at S$ 120k, while C-Max is at S$ 135k based on sgcarmart. If the C-Max is at the same price of Picasso, I think they should do much better. At the current price, I rather go for 2GT. Pay about 10% more and get a more well built car with better features. Anyway, the compact 7 seater MPV market will prove to be more challenging for players like VW Touran, Peugeot 5008, Citroen 4GP, unless they reduce their margins significantly. Previously, there is no mid range 7 Seater MPVs offered from the likes of BMW and Mercedes. The closest is 7 seater SUV like X5, M Class which are at least twice more expensive than a Touran. Now with 2GT, the price difference is no longer that huge. Buyers are willing to pay that slight premium. If 2GT proves to be a success, I think Merc may also launch an extended B-Class of its own. It's complacency... look at VW... after they decide to sell the cars themselves, see how their market share has gone up. Before that, their previous authorized dealer simply sold enough at high enough margins to pad their coffers... did nothing for the VW brand in Singapore. Poser Neutral Newbie June 29, 2016 Share June 29, 2016 Regent Motor is bad. Saw the Light Blue C-Max in the showroom when I was shopping for a new MPV. Salesman came up to me, asked if he can helpme and went off to answer his hp for 5 min before I replied! When he returned, he just told me "don't know" to all my questions, like "When are you bringing the stock in?", "Is there going to be any promotion?" Even Auto France salesman was willing to "entertain" me when I viewed the Peugeot 5008....

Klchua 1st Gear February 2, 2018 Share February 2, 2018 Anyone got any update on the FC of this ford c max? Thank you
Spring Moderator February 2, 2018 Share February 2, 2018 This car seems to be back on sale after going missing for quite awhile. Any idea why is this so? Thought it was a reasonably priced MPV with sliding doors which made entry easier so it would do ok but I heard Ford factory has limited capacity to produce this car n hence AD can’t import more units?
Hamburger Hypersonic February 2, 2018 Share February 2, 2018 FC is my least concern. Power and safety is imperative. ↡ Advertisement
