Nzy Twincharged February 26, 2016 Share February 26, 2016 I praise you for bringing up the possibilities, but I fark the LTA and PAP for coming up with this. In future there will be absolutely zero privacy. They will even know when you brought your mistress to the park and how long it took for you to cum. Now they are already tracking la. Unless you say you don't bring a phone around. The telcos got record of your phone connection and can know where you are. With smartphones it is even more accurate and even google and apple are tracking where you go. ↡ Advertisement
Miles 4th Gear February 26, 2016 Share February 26, 2016 I'm sure the system is programmed in such a way that it is a two layer verification, linked to your ignition. So if say car moved yet no feedback loop from GPS... U tio liao. Too many scholars in govt to keng against kengsters. I'm thinking more of the two way feedback loop. when you park in car park and stop engine, parking meter starts and ends when you start you engine and drive off the car park's GPS ring fence. If you are in the car park but engine still running, parking meter do not start rolling. Regarding OBU disabling ignition if road tax not paid, I think fixed road tax could be a thing of the past once OBU comes into effect. You'll just have to pay for the use of road as you drive. Drive more pay more. One cost all packaged into road tax / road pricing. They'll probably do away with CEV rebate upfront, and give preferential road pricing rates to low emission cars whereas very high rates to V12 engine cars that emit 300g/km of CO2. E.g. Cars that emit <99g/km CO2 pay $0.10 per km road pricing, 100-130g/km pay $0.20 per km road pricing, >300g/km pay $1 per km. So if your mileage per year is about 20,000 km... For low emission car you pay $0.10 X 20,000 = $2,000 per year road pricing (equivalent to road tax + ERP) today. For certain roads inside CBD, the base rate x 10% or 20% or 30%, depending on the level of congestion.
Leonidas76 1st Gear February 27, 2016 Share February 27, 2016 Eh ERP2.0 is going to cover this street side parking already. So idk what they are going to really implement this. It's a good idea to fill in the gaps where gps has some problems somehow or just to provide a quick fix to certain areas not covered by Skynet..whoops I meant ERP 2.0 hahaha. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/erp-20-goes-the-distance-with-new-tech ↡ Advertisement
