I happened to be at Ubi the other day so I tot I drop by AG at 330pm to let them check out the sound from the front suspension.

So far this is my short review of AG.

Ms Sherry - She is the front desk customer service officer. At first she may looked very fierce and unfriendly. I was quite polite to her. After awhile we chatted and we warmed up to each other Liao, she became more chatty and friendly with me. Not bad.

Mr Rahmat - He is the service executive. I told him about the sound and he immediately asked me to go test drive with him. Told him the sound is more obvious during rough roads, humps and slope. He then went to choose all those roads that fulfills the criteria to force the sound out. He also heard it and brought the car back the garage.

He was very upfront and told me cos abit late, he is worried that even if they find the fault, may not have enough time to fix it cos I needed the car back that day.

Told him fair enough cos my original intention was to let them isolate the fault so they can prepare the spare parts to replace during my servicing on Jan 18. I wasn’t expecting them to fix it within 1-2hrs.

They checked the lower arm and didn’t find any damage. But they reassembled the lower to mark sure it sits properly.

Before he hand the car back to me, he was very honest and told me that he still hear the sound but it’s softer and not so frequent.

He request that give him more time during the servicing in Jan 18 to fully troubleshoot the fault.

I tested it and agreed with him so I took the car back home.

So far my experience with AG is still acceptable.

1 advice to owners is that try to be polite to ppl at service centers. Because how would you feel if you get screamed and shouted at by customers? We all want to feel respected.

Respect goes both way.

I know because my family owns a car repair workshop. We have our fair share of nice and self-entitled customers.

The nice customers, we will go out of our way to help me. Sometimes even doing things FOC for them because you treat us with respect.

Those screwed up ppl, my father will just tell them to F off cos he doesn’t want their business.

(Don’t pm me for my dad’s workshop please. He doesn’t do new customers. He is semi retired. Lol.)

Good for u. After 4 visits since 1000km throughout this year there they have not fixed my problem even with a new steering rack. It has become rather apparent that the weak link is on the undercarriage (presumably control arm)

Both my patience and politeness are waning. Now awaiting confirmation for a joint test drive to fix this and stop wasting everybody's time.

Btw your that sound will get much worse over time and u will be able to feel the clunks.

Joint test drive? You mean during the first time you reported the issue to them, you didn’t test drive together with the service personnel?

Yes I did. 3 different SA. But u see they aren't the ones working on the car. And all 3 times they are the ones driving. Problem was acknowledged but Everytime I am told "sir, your car is ready for collection" but met with disappointment.

The next one I will be the one personally replicating the fault , and will have the technical advisor who is at the workshop side to sit in as well.

Last I checked UK forums there was a bulletin issued over that side saying there was a batch of lower arm that are faulty on delivery. They didn't change the arm for you?

surprisingly they were quite sure it was steering rack. by the 2nd trip i already felt steering was not the issue, thats why i sent in again on the 3rd time. still say steering. at that time i only heard about link rods so i asked if linked rods were ok they said yes.

on the 4th recent time they changed steering and link rods. then return to me. im so stunned how they can pass this car to be road worthy.

true enough u cant really tell on low speeds without braking. so imma have them put their seatbelts on next time.

Sorry to hear that man.

Not to rub salt into your wound, there might be a chance that your car might be a lemon.

Back then when I first collected my Kia K3, I also noticed some defects in my car misaligned bonnet, stains on the paint, paint chip, dashboard rattling, exhaust rattling.

Got 1 technical advisor try to bulls**t me say it’s normal to have misaligned bonnet. (For god sake my family own a car workshop. We know our stuffs).

So I told them if this is your argument, then I will invoke lemon law on C&C.

They tot I was playing bluff. I got my father’s lawyer friend to draft a lawyer’s letter and I told C&C that if they don’t acknowledge the problem, I will personally serve them the documents. Then they got scared and arranged a meeting with their management.

My car was in the workshop for 2 weeks, within 1st month of ownership.

So yeah, I understand how you feel.

I suggest you seek legal advise on your issue. If you have given enough chance and time to AG, maybe it’s time to escalate it to the next level.

This is your legal right.

I really hope they can fix your problem.

Don’t mind could you share it here? I can’t seem to find this bulletin through google. Thanks man. Edited by Whattheheck

The only time when they started to treat my case seriously was when I emailed to the management. So maybe you can bring it up that level first.

Saw it at the UK forum. Maybe can try here https://www.astrakforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3828&start=10

Same issue creaking sound from front right. They replaced the lower arm and problem solved. Yes a tad disappointing that a lower arm needs to be replaced for a new car less than 6 months.

Anyway 'tok' sound is common and AG just say is normal which until now still no explanation why is it normal.

Still waiting for the parts... according to them.. Factory closed and they have no dates when the parts will arrived.. that issue is common fault found in astra..

They also never fixed my steering wheel issue.. as usual.. always claimed they fixed it.. I really give up on them..

Have placed a deposit for the remaining units of 1.0 Astra.....not sure if is a right timing to purchase now as many are saying VES in 2018 will cause the COE price to drop.......

no right or wrong time. all about whether u can afford.

but generally at this coe, u normally sell 5 years to get back a decent rebate. when i bought my car at 7k coe, no need think. just hold ten years.

Immediately after collecting my ST I felt the car vibrating as well but during higher speed. And during the 1K inspection I was told it could be steering rack.

But I told them it is most likely a tyre balancing issue, they said shouldn’t be cos tyres are balanced from factory.

End up it really was a simple tyre balancing issue.
