Johnny86 4th Gear December 1, 2016 Share December 1, 2016 Altis also around $110k for elegance (not going for base trim) and think free servicing is 1yr. At that time think their anniversary version not that much more. Slow and steady yes, depend on ur needs. Does look nice and sharp but not fast enough to pull me in to test their CVT drive If have more money .... Either A3 sport back 1.4 or Golf 1.5T 2017 version... Hope can try one of these within the next 5yrs ↡ Advertisement
therock Supersonic December 1, 2016 Share December 1, 2016 The traded price for the Corolla is a bit less la... just like the posted 123k price tag for the 1.4T Astra is actually quite a bit higher than the real deal. Anyhow, Polish, UK etc, it should be fine. Furthermore, with the high OMV, higher cat B COE, when it comes to selling, it won't do too badly either. Arch1984 4th Gear December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 (edited) Think selling may not get good price. Must see how the brand develops in the future. Edited December 2, 2016 by Arch1984
eric_shen Neutral Newbie December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 So the 1.4t only comes in a hatchback version? And the 1.0 is a tourer that costs 99k? IMO the 1.4t is good value for a cat B turbo equipped car. Especially if you consider what a Golf will cost. Loaded with features too. This is what is needed to draw sales from other more mainstream brands. It's cheaper than a civic or HRV and is not much more than a corolla. My old Astra was made in Belgium. The version before mine was Polish. both have HB and ST version... normally ST 1.0 is 6K more expensive than HB 1.0 ST 1.4 is ~10K-13K more expensive than HB 1.4 IMO, HB 1.4 and ST 1.0 value more for money.

Sabretan 4th Gear December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 Nope it's wrong. Opel shifted their Astra plants to Gliwice(Poland) and Ellesmere Port(UK) a few years back after closing their Russelsheim plant in Germany. I checked the VINs on the 1.0 and 1.4 test drive cars. You can run the VIN numbers in this website to find out where the car is made http://vinopel.com/register.php 1.0T and 1.4T hatchbacks are made in Poland. Checked from both Auto Germany's test drive cars SLE878R and SLE898H. Sports Tourers are made in UK. Mine was made in Bochum Germany. Think selling may not get good price. Must see how the brand develops in the future. For brands like Opel, if want to buy, buy for the ride and not resale value. If want resale value, look elsewhere.

If want resale value, look elsewhere. Unless planning to drive for 10 yrs, need to consider resale value to est the cost of ownership. Den compare the ride, etc with cars of the similar cost. If resale value is very bad den the car will be ex even if the selling price now is low.

eric_shen Neutral Newbie December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 The depreciation may be less but a 1.0 is a lot less fun.. and fun is worth paying for exactly what I would say. we cannot just look at depreciation. if the price is not too much difference, 1.4T is a good choice. but if it is ~15k more without another new features, then i'd rather choose 1.
