sien ½ liao....  but i wonder where the world they going to find space for the temp food centre nearby

After talking so many years, finally they decided to tear down golden shoe?! Dont think they will have a temp food centre cause there is no empty space in that area. Food centre will be back 4 years later when new building is up, guess many existing hawkers should not come back liao.

Golden shoe gone is the ample carpark lots there also. Sad for drivers.

Haiz, all these old landmarks gone.

Want to drive and park at CBD is HG liao.

Should approve the redevelopment only if they have same space allocated for public parking.

My guess, govt encourage ppl to go car lite loh.

Be prepare to pay $5/hr

I only remember walking past it when i was a boy and my parents had things to do in the CBD. These were gone in the late 80s or very early 90s?

Why issit called golden shoe anyway

The old CBD area were shaped as such, with the offices running parallel on shenton / robinson all the way to the cluster around raffles place like your shoe toe.

Golden, because most of the financial sectors were there.

Or maybe someone was drinking when the name pop up.

They are going in the direction of car lite, so no need to build new car park.

That hawker centre was still ard in the early 2000's. But no more waterfront. It was reclaimed land when I went there to eat once only.

Not only this, if you cross the bridge, there is another hawker center just across the river to give you more variety.

Missed those days in the 90s where you can still get a good meal at cheap prices when I started working in CBD. Now there is only Golden Shoe which has become hotter.

With Golden Shoe gone, only May Hua coffee shop left, which the food sucks in my opinion.

Cheapest food to eat will be a Subway sandwich now. Not every one who works in CBD can afford to spend 10 to 20 bucks on lunch Everyday.

The one just before Victoria concert hall ?

Recall there was an uncle selling western food there. $5 for mixed grill. Superb food. He used to be a cook for the British army during the colonial days.
