what a goal......like rugby ....

The 2 CBs pressure from VVD must be....both need to prove their worth....

Anyway, can see that Solanke is out of his depth....reaction too slow and first touch is poor.  To me, only Ox and T.Arnold is running the puffing...the rest quite pedestrian until after Burnley score theirs.

Turbocharged

An absolutely vital win with a much changed side.

First half it was a lot of huff and puff, with nothing much to show for. With Burnley looking the more dangerous.

Patience and perseverance paid off and we got the lead. Mane with a turn and smashing shot.

Still could not add to it and as most fans feared, duly got punished, allowed Burnley to pull level.

Just as most of us were resigned to a draw, up came an unlikely scorer.

Credit to the lads for plugging away.

Next up, against Everton in the FA cup.

Will we see VvD making his debut?

Yes la!!! The 2 CBs combined to score!

They are trying to impress so they play with VVD

and not replaced by him.  [thumbsup]

Agreed. And the fouls he committed mostly were innocuous. Some referees are really too soft.

Players go down and they blow. Diao....

Klavan and loveren are the best combi for now. Matip can wait.

Gomez need to learn more.

Why is mane face black black. No pun intended please.

Yeah noticed it too. What happened to Mane? Like fed-up playing for Pool .. face never smile after scoring.

Dunno why i suspect something is not right with Mane leh...

Since his red card, he has been mostly a pale shadow of the winner of last season, when his presence made a significant difference, and he was so adventurous and created all sorts of problems for his markers.

Last night, if not for the goal, he would have been skewered. In fact, i was telling my wife this one poor beyond recognition... Then he scored, and my wife asked didn't i just say he lousy? I told her maybe he heard me...

Anyway, 2 matches won by 2 goals to 1. Good 6 points, and hope the other teams nearby will feel the heat and drop points too. Both matches were a distance poorer than the dominant, free-scoring games that we had seen a number of times this season, but are important points.

None of the players really impressed, but glad that Lallana at least lasted the match. Hope he'll get back into form quickly to help with a late push up the table.

Solanke is still too raw. Tried to emulate Firmino, but still a v long way to go. Both young full backs generally played ok, but both are obviously still young and prone to occasional errors. The big concern is whether these errors are costly or not... TAA lost the ball a couple of times when trying to take on their winger back i our half - a very risky thing to do. But at least he's trying to go forward, which can't be said of 90% of the passes made between gini, can, gomez, lovren...

seems like Mane was affected by his poor performance. he didnt celebrate overtly when he scored, nor did he react too angrily when he was substituted. i thought Klopp could have kept him on the field for the full 90mins to give him an opportunity to perform.

i thought the 2 full backs did their jobs quite decently, good movement and did not make any fatal mistakes, though Burnley will not be the toughest opponent.

I wonder what's - if any - weighing on him lately. He had often used his pace and control to great effect, and would run with the ball after collecting it, and easily leaving defenders behind with his lightning-quick take-off.

Nowadays never see him do that anymore.

Maybe his confidence is affected by being left out so often - when compared to his fellow African Salah. The latter stealing the show most of the time also didn't help Mane's cause.

Yup, the 2 youngsters did decent, but they will need to be watertight if they want to be up there fighting with the regulars as the top full backs. TAA esp, has a decent right shot. He scored a few goals already this season, and if he gets the nod more often, and if he gets near the box, i hope he'll score a few more. It's been a while since our full backs chipped in with goals, and that will really given the team another edge.

agree on Mane. as for the full backs, as long as they can balance between attack and defence, and can cross decently, its good enough for me.

When you are playing under pressure to perform and you are not in the best form, you get worried and can't be happy with your personal performances. That's why Mane doesn't look happy when playing lately. The good thing to note on this outcome is that JK has not given up hope on him and he has not given hope on himself.

On the overall performance of the game away at Burnley, there is nothing to shout about. No as fluid and potent and the whole team is not as aggressive and hungry. I am also not taking away anything from Burnley, which is a good team to start with. They played open and positive football and not park the bus. However, yesterday's LFC performance reminds me of Chelsea a couple of seasons back when they were obviously not at their best, play lacking in terms of creativity and fluidity but yet still able to crave out the odd goal wins against almost anybody. Yes, that's the trademark of Champions. You can't be playing lovely football week in week out and ends up winning every game. When you are not playing well, the ability to crave out boring 1 - 0 wins is vital to the chase of the Championship.

As such, I am not complaining. Just keep winning and just as per what JK says in the post match interview, "I just can't be bothered with the beauty of the game when you get a win out of a very normal performance."

Maybe mane just don’t like rain.
