A New Chapter - Skoda Singapore

Most of the usual buyers of Korean and toyota are reliability conscious and will not think twice about Skoda unless they have some knowledge about cars .

And than that some knowledge is a very dangerous assumption as they will start to imagine DSG failure from hearsay and ask about replacement cost and the whole conversation stops there.

While the 5 year warranty is a good start for VW Skoda, if they stuck their neck out with 10 year warranty on DSG , that would help remove some doubts.

To raise awareness on the gearbox issue that's actually isolated to the 7-speed dry-clutch, i think it's important to educate potential buyers and the public about the different variants of DSG, and know which one the VW/Audi/Skoda vehicle is using.

Reliability of various DSG variants

If anyone ask about this, we should just quote the above and let them research further. It should clear up their worries  [:)]

Anyone bought Octavia ? Or 1.4 TSI Ambition Plus? How is it any issue?

I’m getting mine in Aug.

Please check the car thoroughly on receiving. Mine had scratches on interior trims. Reported 2 months ago at the service centre till now no updates yet! Their aftersale service sux big time!

On the day u collect your new car, give it a thorough check inside out before u sign on the papers! If u do find any scratches or dents, i suggest u get them to fix it before u sign out the car.

Just my 2cents.

Thanks for the infoð

Seem like most of u got the high end RS245!

No one got 1.4 Ambition Plus ð¤

You've got a car that's reasonably good in both performance and FC.

It's amazing how this 1.4 engine has lasted for more than 10yrs now.

His 1.4 is not equal to your 1.4.

Sunday.

How is your Octavia ? Good? Any feedback ?

15k, no oil change yet, and going strong. No feedback because agent aftersales won't act on it anyway. See previous page.

Badlammy old octy 1.4 was a single charge CAXA, same as my previous Jetta. If it was twin, it would be CHDB or some other 4 letter code.

VW brought in a new 1.4 engine variant, probably comes with some cylinder shut off or variable turbine blades.

The new 1.4 has almost close to similar output specs of the old twin charge 1.4.

Tuning and mod-ablility, I am not certain, as I never went to read up too much.

After driven the 1.4 for awhile, my attention was focused on the 2.0T, since it was one of VW's proven, and plenty of mods that you can throw at it.

So when the 2.0T was offered on the "best car in the world" at a bargain price by skoda, that was literally a no brainer.

I would dub it an "impulse buy", if you knew how my decision making worked. lol

Did not have to convince anyone, no need to test drive, because you just know it will deliver.

Damn cup holders though.
