Found this thread. Very useful.

Will be driving to KL later this week. It's been >10 yr since i last drove near there (to Genting), so must get fresh advice on where to stop/rest, and also get tips on where to go and what to do...

Is there any road trip thread to KL huh? I can't seem to find any.

there's a lot of fixed cameras (AES) now between SG and KL. If i'm not wrong, 4 on northbound and 3 southbound. There's advance warning using 3 big yellow signboards before each camera location.

Best to use Waze cos it'll prompt for speed cameras but only 500m before reaching it.

u staying over night in KL too or only Genting?

Will be driving to KL for a short holiday. Anyone got recommendation for must eat food and things to do? Is Batu caves worth going?

Look inside KL Foodie.

If not, go to Basement food court of Lot 10.  Every famous store in KL also got.

I just spoke to a colleague, who spent a week in KL/Ipoh. He said he was going at 130-140 average, and touched 160... in a Subaru Legacy that's due in Sep!

Are SG drivers still gonna be targeted by MY mata? It's tempting to go faster so as to arrive earlier, but i scared i long long go one time, then suay suay tio targeted  [sweatdrop]

If odds are not high, then it's better  [laugh]

Instead of using waze, is it a safe bet to pace the surrounding vehicles? If they're going fast, can assume it's quite safe?

Not planning to go Genting this time round leh. Only staying 2 nights, both in KL.

Anything/anywhere nice or worthy to visit? Wife suggests Batu Caves.

nowadays the police won't set road block as they have several camera along the way, and those were real camera and make sure you slow down upon seeing the warning road sign.

other than that i usually cruising at 130-140.

re speed cam, best to use Waze. Surrounding vehicles may not be going at your preferred speed. And it also gives traffic and road hazard warnings.

yep now all either sniper or fixed cam (AES) unless got special ops

go for food? char siew and siew yoke, bak kut teh in Klang, hokkien mee, durian (can go Bentong see see). I like the burgers at myburgerlab.

since it's Hari Raya season, u can check out their lemang (glutinous rice cooked in bamboo). It's often eaten after Raya.

what about Broga hill? there's an interesting temple there, and some nice options for food. Don't miss the coconut shake there

if want to stay in city area, perhaps explore Damansara uptown. Lots of food in that area

hmm... tks... i'm not a regular waze user, and was thinking of just getting a 1-GB roaming plan from singtel, which might not be enough to use for navigation... (thinking of using the car's GPS only)...

if like this, will either need to get a higher roaming plan, or go get a MY SIM card somewhere...

wah, if got sniper, then how to spot or take precaution leh? is it a case of suddenly all slow down, then better follow? [sweatdrop]

ok, will consider Broga Hill - thanks.
