It is to lower the VES banding. They did something similar with the A4 when they sold it on 16 inch rims. It is a major price drop to go with the 17 inch vs the 18 inch (10k). I'd rather have cash in hand then pay the higher banding price. Speaking of which, ride comfort on the 17s is great! I test drove on the 18s and found it a bit bumpy, but now that I've driven around a few days on the 17s I can say that they really smooth out a lot of road imperfections. May not look the best, but I'm lao uncle so my back is grateful.

Staying at 17" instead of 18" probably reduces unsprung weight of close to 2 kgs per wheel.  Coupled with higher profile tyres, obviously the 17" ride will feel less bumpy than the 18".  And it should improve fuel consumption (marginally) too.

Having said that, I will still upsize to 18"; I am lao uncle too, but looks do make me feel good too!😊

I got the q3 with the standard steering wheel. Any of yall have any idea how much if were to go bk to audi to change the steering wheel to the flat bottomed one? And whether they offer such a service?

I asked this too. Not a simple swap and unlikely they will do as airbag, etc. involved. I think you wanted to do it because the online configurator say very cheap, right? Me too, but was told that the online configurator basically not valid and cannot use as a guide on options.

Haha,, i keep thinking to go 18 or not too. Planning a trip up to KL end of Feb so will see how the 17s perform with the 65 series tyre first. If we go up to 18s, we are still at a 55 series which is still relatively meaty. I'm not into the aftermarket look, but aftermarket 18s could be lighter than stock 17s to reduce unsprung weight.

you can change in some 3rd party workshop.

i dont think PA does that, can be also quite costly if they do

Yea always wanted to go with the flat bottomed steering wheel, but didnt had the choice for the option since got at motorshow. Considered going to third party workshop like Avantage VAG to change, but am concerned about the warranty. Think it might be voided if i do so?

My previous Q3 also came without the car jack and nut wrench.  I believe it is because the car did not come with the space-saver spare tyre.  I had to buy these from from the auto parts shop.  I think it cost about $50

I checked the Q3 accessories listing and saw the tools + jack at $105.  However you can only order it if you also order the space-saver spare at $534!

That's why I plan to switch to run-flats, even though there is a  minor negative on the suspension.

RFT will be noisier and higher fuel consumption. I had  them on my last ride. Also need to add in TPM. Not sure how much PA will charge for this option.

Hi,  collected my car last week and just opened my tool kit compartment under the boot. Found the tyre repair kits, but no jack or tools to remove the wheel nuts ( only screw driver and tool pin). Checking with those who collected their Q3, is this what you all gotten per attached picture or my is missing some tools? There are also empty slots with our tools. Thanks26D87E5D-D3CD-4FE9-8F25-8DF83B409D02.thumb.jpeg.27130c5772218bb99f149a6f5ed4d4ac.jpeg

Just confirm with PA that this is the standard tool set for tyres repair kit.

To change to Flat bottom steering wheel - Premium Automobile quoted $1,700 for it. I checked with them.
