New engine - made in Nov 17

Until u trade in or try and sell.. then u know [bigcry]

That's true - car's value dropped the minute we signed on the dotted line

Collected my car last Saturday.

So far so good but a few quick observations

1. Lazy placement of the bonnet release on the left side (suspect they didn't bother to switch between LHD and RHD)

2. Start-Stop is very sensitive and they don't have a "hold" feature like my previous Merc (can hold the brake lightly to stop the engine from shutting down for short delays)

3. No "hold" function on the brakes (need to use parking brake) and brakes are quite twitchy (maybe the bite is set too high?)

4. Drive is pretty good - this cat is very willing to pounce (but not sure if the speedometer is accurate - consistently show higher speed than seen on Waze)

5. Consumption still pretty decent at 8.8L/100km (still slowly running in the car) hahah

6. No rattle sounds although road noise can still be heard (running on Pirelli P7 18" tyres)

It's the 20T so BHP is only 200 but torque is 350NM so the pulling power is definitely there hahah

It has been a month since I gotten my car and here are some gripes

1. Speedometer is definitely faster than actual car speed (checked against GPS and also direct connection to its ODB port)

2. Door mirrors are acting up - I need to unlock, lock and unlock before the mirrors would fold back out

3. Fuel economy is terrible - quite light-footed (99% on Econ Score) but best I can squeeze out is 10km/L

4. Missing the Pre-safe Braking on my previous Merc - doesn't come as standard on the XE

5. Gesture activation on the boot is largely a hit-and-miss affair

6. Start-stop has finally "died" - doesn't come on anymore (at least not over the last week)

1. Did u upsize your rims? That affects the speedo

3. Yours petrol right? My diesel can do average around 15km/l. Sports and Adaptive Dynamic all the time. Rather heavy foot also.

6. Start stop dies when the battery is low. U have camera on after engine off?

U can try setting your camera cut off at a higher voltage.

My own gripe about the car so far, after just over a year ownership..

1. Rear seat squeaky sounds when I first collected. Somehow gone away without me noticing after few months of driving.. Still.. Shouldn't have in the first place.

2. Being a diesel.. mounting lifespan is short. Recently claimed warranty. About 25k only.

Other than that, besides the shortcomings of a typical diesel engine, I'm still in love with my car

It's 18" - came as "standard" - so I guess they didn't adjust the speedo properly

Yup, petrol but still surprised that it's that far from the manufacturer's numbers

My previous Merc was within 20% of the stated numbers in mixed driving

The cam is off when the engine is off - Wearnes connected the power to the rear seat 12V instead of the fuse box :/

So should I ask Wearnes to take a look or live with it? Hahah

So far, there's no squeaky sounds so that's a plus for me hahah

I sent back my previous Merc within a week as the rattling from the dashboard was terrible (someone in the Merc forum suspected they didn't do a good job connecting the rear camera to the monitor

Hi gents,

I am currently looking at the 2016 XE R-Sport 2L.

I have done a bit of reading and apparently there were some gripes about it having poor FC.

Can someone please advise on the real-world FC? TIA.

I believe FC is a foregone conclusion. If it’s fast n fun u probably be induce to step on it rather than drive gingerly

To hear/read figures would be good too.

depends on driving habit and roads/HW/city etc

XE should be around 10km/L

Generally not the best  but as bros here have mentioned, most buy XE bec of its power, drive and looks

Jag never known for its excellent FC (unless diesel)

So unless u are doing 90% city driving, should not think too much

U want conti with better FC, BMW 316/318 much better, but HP 136 vs 197, no fight, 2 sec diff in 100m dash

Xe engine used to be Ford engine. With its new ingenum petrol engine now, efficiency n petrol consumption may have improved

I am currently on an sDrive23i with a very lousy FC of 8.5 km per litre, real-world numbers. I figured... since this XE is a 2L turbo, the FC could well be pretty much the same.

Not entirely basing my decision on FC of course, but just wanna hear some figures from current owners.

A bit late in here, so i only read the last 3 pages of this thread.

I test-drove the XE R-Sport yesterday. Love the interior, stitching, boot space seems fine, rear legroom seems tight, rear-view isn't wide, power-wise was not bad (yes i knew the bhp before-hand).

Nope, not looking at the 316i/318i, thank you for the recommendation.

I get less than 10km/l with my 20T 2018 model

Happy to get 8km these days, despite getting 99% eco scores all the time

Need some feedback.

Having driven, Merc, Audi, BM, when I drive XE, i find steering heavy. Not "feather" touch like the other makes. Wonder if its normal or i shld get workshop to check.

The steering for XE is much heavier compared to other conti car like Audi, Merc and BMW.

Among all, the Merc has the lightest steering in my opinion.  I switch between the Merc and Jag on daily basis and you can tell the difference.

The pros I like about the Jag is that the drive is very smooth even bend at high speed, the car is so stable.

Just personal observation.

Wow there is a limited promotion at 140k for the jag xe, that's really tempting!

Do u ferry adults often? If so, do try getting in the back. If ur ok, this car is suitable for u.
