There are Fire Blanket (look more like envelop than blanket in actual) for laptops and other small electronic devices but it is to prevent the batteries within the devices from burning in the event it get overheated. Whereas for normal fire blanket sold by fire fighting equipment retailers, they are blanket like flame retarded material meant to be lay over a burning object (e.g. Wok on stove), to stop the burning by cutting off the oxygen supply. As I had mentioned in my previous post, water is the best extinguishing medium for li-ion batteries, as it serve to cool down the batteries temperature to below the Thermal Runaway Temperature. Foam and powder extinguishers just delay the burning by insulating the burning batteries (from oxygen) but once the insulation is broken, the batteries will re-ignite immediately as temperature continue to escalate. 10 hours ago, Watwheels said: What if the fire is caused by overloading the power socket? Or using non-approved power adapter? OK, in this case normal / household size extinguisher will be useful. Thanks for pointing that out. ↡ Advertisement
