I know this thread is kinda old but hopefully someone still sees this and can provide some inputs.

We accidentally rammed into a Learning Car that was stationary waiting at the junction. I know it’s our fault but the other party is now claiming for all the lessons they have to cancel due to repair needed on top of expenses for changing the whole bumper (which is also excessive imo).

Anyone had experience with Learner’s car and can advise whether this is lawful or not? I feel like they’re over claiming but wanna get some insights if this is the norm.

Thank you!!

Let your Insurer settle....L Plate come to a complete Stop is correct, hit them is 100% wrong.

Claiming loss of Use is normal,it is consider lucky never claim "Whiplash" Injuries.

Loss of use is valid loss.

A lot of whiplash claims are 99% opportunistic claims especially by PHV and Taxi drivers.

Well if you text and drive then make sure you hit someone that drink and drive and then it will be their fault.

Have a great weekend.

NCD transfer between spouse is only valid for one time

Google AI says need to renew with same insurance provider and cannot change to another...

Agreed just let the insurer settle. Insurer won't approve of the party tries to inflate the cost of the claims.

Speaking from personal experience - so the other party's lawyers issue a writ of summons to my insurer cause they didn't approve the claims. I was told by their admin staff to just let them handle, not to worry...

Like some of the replies here.

Just let the insurer settle the claim.

But why claim lesson lost? Private instructor car or school?

I remember many years ago, I bumped slightly on the L-Plate car while at zebra crossing, the car moved off, then suddenly stopped again, the road was clear.

I was looking out for vehicle from the right, then when I turn back not in time to brake.

The school instructor said the student shouldn't have stopped but it's still my liability which I agreed too. So in the end settled with the school privately without claiming insurance. I think was $200.

Google AI? Ok, your point being?

Google AI provides a summary of the search results. So in this case the search term was "transfer NCD to spouse"

Again, your point being? You should be asking individual insurers about NCD transfer from spouse instead of relying on Google AI. Is it even 100% factually accurate?

Does it make sense to select $1500 excess with the objective of private settlement for minor accident (payable to other party cash at max cap $1500) ? So that when you renew next year, at least the premium wont shot up + NCD increase

Vs

$500 excess and to claim own insurance but when renew next year, premium shot up with NCD decrease

@ER-3682 dont repair of own car for minor (scratches or small dent). If really need repair, will also be a 1 off instead of "claims" will be tag to ur name for 3years for insurance to give u high quote
