Mine is 3 panels due to my balcony shape. I prefer less panel as more panels means more vertical struts/guide mounted on the floor.

But mc2 require full payment when confirming order. I saw some not happy with this kind of terms. So it maybe something for you to consider.

wah all the full payment one, i siam...

i just did reno... i found out the best way to ensure you get wat you want is do not pay upfront

they collect $$, after that chuiz one... some more is use our $ go finance their biz

Ya. That was my concern initially. But they did some clarification in their fb page and after going through some reviews I bite the bullet and went ahead with them. Also use my Manhatten card and get 3% discount. Lol.

Fortunately everything went well. Even though got some leakages after a few months they still responded promptly.

I think leakages is bound to have regardless who the supplier is since they can only silicon the joints. I'm fine with the slight leakage but my wife cannot. Lol. That's why we only call them back a few months after the installation.

hi... there is zipTRAK made in Australia vs zip-track locally made. you can google ziptrak and see their list of authorized resellers in Sg, when we did ours 2.5yrs ago, there were about 14 appointed zikTRAK reseller/installers in Sg. what i understand, these resellers will come onsite take measurement, submit to zipTRAK distributor to cut material, then resellers in-house installers will do the installation.

we also bought additional rain sensor, just so blinds will auto-come down when contact with rain, but note to go up still need to use remote control or pair with Somfy app.

my neighbour has the non-motorised zipTRAK if you worry motor spoil in the long run. means use the string pulley type.

whether 2 or 3 panels, better is no support beam in the middle, zipTRAK is able to customized length, and they will assemble two pieces onsite, after assembly looks like one long piece of almost 5 meters.

i was told there are now 7 retailers of the ziptrak blinds. The curtain boutique said they're the biggest wor...

think i'll not consider the manual one, as i have elderly parents at home. If/when the motorised system spoil, can manual override to pull or not huh, do you know?

now got festive offer, said it's 40% off the 2nd panel... but the discount worked out is less than 20% overall 😅

actually no need to pay so much for brand, I installed the china motorise type and it work just the same, warranty also 5 years, so far coming to 4 years also nothing wrong, can withstand strong wind too. And no need to pay all out front just incase any screw up.

@Atrecord if I rem correctly, no backup if motor spoil, call installer to troubleshoot.

For us, we paid certain % up front, then remainder upon completion.

Suggest you to weigh your family needs and budget, sturdiness of the frame to handle the strong wind during monsoon season.

Other considerations, better for blind material to be fire retardant, color of blind and frame able to match condo facade.

hmm... ok, hope these companies gonna be around long long time then...

sturdiness is wanted - but i dunno how to weigh it leh. so can only ask for feedback and review from those who had already done it. I've learnt not to believe those sales talks, ha ha...

The installer I went to, they (and many others in the same trade) sell curtains, blinds as their core business. They have been around for long time since brother and sister team took over from their parents. Whether or not they are still an appointed ziptrak reseller, not sure. All the best.

Just wondering if you have got the blinds installed and if you could share your findings.

Deciding if I should go for Australian Ziptrak or China made motorised blinds.  What is the price gap?

Keeping track on this thread too as my missus wanna to but I do not think so.

A balcony should be as open as it can be. Putting such track blinds just don't sit right with me. In case I relented, I know which brand to go for.

I have blinds already, it does help to keep out the heat and sun (if yours is a sunny facing unit).   Your wife has my vote. 🤣

My ID also opposed blind installation for aesthetic reasons but we did it one year after reno and never regret the decision.

These days, as I exercised more on my cross trainer, which is kept at one of my balconies, I am  contemplating a ziptrak rainout frosted blind system that will keep the aircon in.  It is getting  crazily hot and warm these days.

Just deciding if an upgrade is worth it and if I really really need it.  My 6 years old VB blinds are still in good condition.

Just starting my research, happy to share notes.

Agreed that blind is essential to keep out direct sunlight.

Mine is those Mari kita type that goes up and down manually which I am happy enough with. She wants something that blocks out rain water completely. Geeze....

Yup, did the blinds last year. It's been about 1.5 yr since we got it done, and that's no regret at all - at the idea of doing the blinds. Like all things, can't say it's (the one we chose) perfect, but it's a right choice, in our case.

What would you like to know? I'll try to recall and share as much as i could, and hope that it'll be useful for you.

Some not v organised/structured thoughts first:

There are many different brands out there, with mostly similar types of products, and the prices differ greatly. For our balcony, the quotes we got ranged from 6.5K to 11.5K, some manual, some motorised.

Materials are mostly 'near-total-waterproof', but only one player dared to say theirs is 100%. Some motorised ones use remote only, and some can even use app to control (meaning can control it remotely even, if got home wifi).

support and warranty is important, as there have been a few times that I needed to call them for help.

Oh, seems to have lots of people doing it, as the lead time to install after we paid, was almost 4 mth... Our installer said got some condo developments even included such binds as standard, so their 'queue' was v long. Last year was also when things started opening up post-covid, so their company was frantically trying to bring in more workers from bangladesh.

Ok, any particular questions you have in mind besides above?
