You can see how Ukraine and Russia have opposite strategies on the battlefield and this leads to opposite results. While Ukraine is adamant and inflexible, they never retreat for any reason except they are completely defeated, Russians retreat whenever they are overwhelmed and reorganize and counterattack and recover lost territory. Ukraine's no retreat policy leads to them taking huge losses, get encircled and eliminated. That is an inhumane strategy coming from their high command that even places anti retreat units to shoot on formations trying to retreat or surrender. You will end up seeing how tens of thousands of soldiers will be eliminated by Russian forces in the encircled cities when they could have retreated to more favorable positions long ago.

Interestingly why it took so long ever since both Sweden and Ukriane were willing to transfer the Gripens during the early stage when Ukriane was seeking western planes to boost their air superiority. 

Despite Trump support for Ukraine may not see to be on the same level as Biden, aids vs sales of weapons to Ukriane. But it was also the Biden administration that gives but never enough, restrict usage of their weapons even on legit targets on Russia soil, and the delay of F-16 and training + Gripen delay was highly because of Biden administration.

And it was the Biden administration that was strongly against Ukriane attacking Russia oil and gas refineries.

On paper, 100 or 150 jets sounded tok kong. In reality  

Problems, Saab current production with backlog, Sweden, Brazil n other countries are willing to delay delivery, Ukraine might receive a few jets soon. Next will be training of pilots, maintenance & support, interop with current military equipment, etc. 

100-150 jets, Ukraine is looking to fight the war beyond another 5 yrs.

In August 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the training and even test flights on the Gripen have begun.

Ukrainian pilots have already completed orientation training on Gripen aircraft in Sweden, including test flights and simulator work.

Sweden is open to supplying older Gripen C/D variants sooner.

Gripen was tied to US restriction due to GE engine.

But now they offer Gripen E with RR engine which removed all US restrictions, stupid trump cannot messed with it.
