What a rubbish product from Mazda. Cost almost as much a brand new toyota hybrid battery but does nothing even close to it.

I'm bit lost.

Oh OK googled it. Damn 1.8k replacement to so called improve emissions. If u disable stop start, will this capacitor spoil?

My 2014 Mazda 3 engine light lighted up, car jerking when stopped, I-stop orange light flashing when I sudden accelerate. When to a workshop at sin Ming was told that my capacitor spoiled , quoted $2k. Saw at Carousell, used capacitor at $980 anyone try before? Any recommendation . Thanks in advance

I think you made a typo, should be toyota. Conti got to deal with leaking from every orifice. 🤣

What do the European stop start systems use? No capacitor right?

Cos I don't recall Honda or Toyota having stop start except those with real hybrid systems.

This is the i-ELOOP capacitor, typically recharged by regenerative braking and is used to power electrical devices and accessories such as the HVAC, audio system and headlights in order to reduce fuel consumption. I think the car can still be driven normally even if the capacitor starts to fail, because the capacitor itself is not the primary source of electrical energy to power the electrical components of the car. The fuel saved is not significant in my opinion to warrant a purchase of a new capacitor. My Mazda 6 is almost 7 years, so it may be due for the capacitor to fail.

The i-stop, which is Mazda's name for their start-stop system, is separate from i-ELOOP as it utilises the car battery itself.

Conti SSS uses the AGM type battery designed to handle the unique characteristics of SS.

There is no separate capacitor or battery just for SSS.

Mazda i-eloop is mainly about recouping energy from braking and to offload the alternator and potentially help with mazda SSS (if they have)

Just curious, Mazda using this system can save a lot of fuel?

Cos I don't hear Mazda owners say their car is very fuel efficient.

@Monster72 if u change to sell than ok...$950 type is used...1 month warranty...alot of them complain spoil again, get new one...like me, no regret!

@Axela525 thank you for your recommendation, will probably get it changed, unlikely will sell it now, COE so high, not a good time to change car, likely will drive till June 2024.

Capacitor will spoil one.

You know Seiko Kinetic watch? No battery but got capacitor to store the energy after you moved you hand. After a certain number of years, have to change and it’s not cheap. A battery is much cheaper. 🤣
