Krieger 5th Gear October 12, 2022 Share October 12, 2022 Dear Run, Flat Tires users, anyone of you change to normal tires after which? Does the car behave differently after changing to normal tires? Thank you. ↡ Advertisement 1
jasonboh 1st Gear October 12, 2022 Share October 12, 2022 When I first bought my C180 back in 2016, it came with run flat continental, 6 months later I decided to change to normal Michelin Primacy 3, I clearly remember the ride became softer, petrol consumption also became slightly better as I recorded with and without run flats, about 10% higher. Handling wise also seems more responsive.
Krieger 5th Gear October 12, 2022 Author Share October 12, 2022 @jasonboh Nice to hear that, my ride comes with an 18-inch run flat and its rather bumpy at times. After hearing from you, I might change out soon.

Inlinefour Twincharged October 13, 2022 Share October 13, 2022 RFT only Pro is safer than normal one especially puncture during high speed that's all I noticed after using for 2 over decades normal tyres got too many Pros to mention My vote is Normal better unless you are working in construction field Then stay RFT my 2psi worth of pressure

kobayashiGT Internal Moderator October 13, 2022 Share October 13, 2022 alot of ppl who is on run flat will change to normal tyres. the solution is good that when you encounter a puncture, you can still continue to run at 60/70km/h/ But the downside is everyday you have a much harder ride. Give me I would like to drive my car more comfortable. hahaha.
Krieger 5th Gear October 13, 2022 Author Share October 13, 2022 Dear all thank you for the advices. I will try out the RFT for a month before i change out as it will be a waste.

There was a discussion on this topic somewhere in this forum. Cannot find it now. BMW M3 owner manual recommends that.

More weight will be sitting on the stiff sidewall.

How many high end car user want to sweat it out to replace spare? or waste time to wait for 24/7 tyre service to reach your car to do a patch up? I would say 70% of high end car user for BM, Benz will want this convenient. 20% of those user will still choose normal over rft, because this group spend all their money on the car, they got no money left to even replace tyres. Then the last 10% which mostly here in MCF, is those that really want performance. 😁
