Lala81 Hypersonic December 15, 2024 Share December 15, 2024 my good friend and family in takayama right now. Haha they super gian to do a combined trip next year. So going to start planning liao. 1 option is just go hokkaido. another option is do the more quiet parts of central japan or even north japan (snow can be from central mountain region but they already doing takayama liao). Maybe can experience skiing at Yuzawa area.

This one is the sakura flowers season. Then you can go to the places with sakura flowers (or those flowers that bloom at the same time). Just google where to see for osaka/kyoto. There's a small park near kiyomizudera in kyoto i think. And osaka castle perimeter also should be blooming.
Lala81 Hypersonic December 17, 2024 Share December 17, 2024 you need to book your kyoto accomodation early for this peak season. If you want to stay there.

Kyoto station still. Gion is east kyoto. Arashimaya is west kyoto. Some of the other stuff is South-east kyoto. The golden temple is Northwest kyoto. U sorta get the point. Getting to and from Gion is really a pain unless u take a taxi. The buses are full virtually the whole day. gion/kiyomizudera region is not super super crowded but the public transport system there is bursting at the seams since the train/metro is quite a distance. Nice but a nightmare to get in and out... best to stay a little outskirts and take the train in... quieter and less crowded... cos during the day you're already going to face the seas and mountains of people at all the places of interest.. Of course if you don't mind then train station is usually best... easiest to move about and find food and shopping even... Just slow pace. Like their cabs will follow behind public bus when it stop at bus stop. And just wait. I was observing these 2 cars waiting for another car to turn from the street into a carpark lift. They just wait for like at least 3-4 minutes. haha it would be unheard of in SEA. Wt_know Supersonic December 18, 2024 Share December 18, 2024 (edited) yes, driving in japan major cities, you just need patience and everything is in order you let other car go first, and other car let you go unlike in KL, you need level 9 kungfu skill to cut in-and-out in order to move especially when you want to change lane to turn Edited December 18, 2024 by Wt_know

teomingern Supercharged December 18, 2024 Share December 18, 2024 Ha ha... not going back in the near term... but will still avoid the Osaka, Kyoto & Tokyo triangle of madness... I think I still prefer Aomori & Hokkaido better... fewer people... still exciting... and most importantly, snowy... heh heh! ↡ Advertisement
