hi guys, new to this forum here

I drive a 2015 Odyssey. Can't say it's not served me well. Ride is okay-ish but I do like the handling of it. Gotten used to the size of it. Second Sturtles' comment on the torsion and engine.

I'm known in the household as the "bus driver" by the kids. Also use it frequently to ferry video equipment for shoots thanks to the fold down seats.
But since my COE gonna be up next Nov, I can't put pen to paper on such a drinker of a car!

Been lurking around different forums to see what's the consensus amongst the drivers in SG and thinking of getting another used one to tide over as well.

Would any drivers here with MPV sizes such as the Odyssey be considering a smaller ride like Noah/Voxy? Or go with a Serena?

Based on videos, With 3rd row fold down. Most usable space should spada (seat can fold into floor). Then Noah (seat can fold upwards) then Serena (the seat folds upwards but doesn't go as much out of the way).

Having sat in Noahs and the prev gen ody as a passenger, I would say most likely for 6 pax not much difference for this compact minivan size. But the additional width of a ody/carnival/alphard would make a difference for a 7th passenger and of course the corresponding boot space etc will also be larger.

Nov 25 still got some leeway.

The only ones with no torsion beam would be the existing Sharan and also the mifa 7 ev.

Alphard has double wishbone coil springs. But that's a real full minivan.

The ody here in asia is not a full minivan. The US ody is 5200mm in length vs the 4800 here (wheelbase here is 2900mm)
The alphard is 4945 with a wheelbase 3000mm

Quote

Suspension, Brakes & Wheels

Suspension (Front)McPherson strut type coil spring

Suspension (Rear)Double wishbone type coil spring

Alphard is about 500k now.

Not sure whether PI is bringing in the lower spec or not.

the 3.5L version?

based on SGCM, the 2.5 hybrid should be <300k.

Latest only got 2.5L hybrid or 2.5L.

Borneo brought in Executive Lounge version which is close to $500k.

will be severely underpowered in a 2.1 ton vehicle.

the overseas camry and Rav4 which presumably has the same 2.5L hybrid drive train is 500kg lighter. Hahaha

This video was pretty instructive of hybrid comparison between Honda and Toyota.

For the Honda CVT, better watch this:

It is very geeky.  There is only 1 clutch to transit from e-power to ICE.

The latest version of CRV has no prop shaft from front to rear.

Rather, rear wheel is battery powered.

BYD M6 is interesting

its 6 or 7 seater, with rear multilinks

May be classified under Cat B as it seem to have 160hp with 300Nm torque

Its more like a wish. Maybe good for families with small children.

The rear seats are more for like pri school kids. access to 3rd row is difficult though reviews so far show the 3rd seater full bench type.

The taxi/PHV uncle said it best. It's only good for kids who can be left alone in 3rd row but are not too big lol.

My kids growing out of that range soon. So nah.

But it might serve a niche in the market which was served by the wish.

That’s why I want to try hybrid CRV.

Its electric motor has > 300nm torque.

It should be easier to drive at low speed

Dunno if got any on the road. But since these limo drivers can somewhat pass the additional cost and running costs to their paying customers. The ones on the road I see don't have any hybrid badges.
