Here is a good explanation of BYD's DiSUS active suspension system available on the higher end models.

Believe D9 Grandeur has DiSUS-C version. The most interesting version is DISUS-Z which can recovery energy from the up/down movement of the vehicle - while having the Rolls Royce magic carpet ride.

It is big, long and high. Can he handle?

He has been driving my Ody for the past 3 yrs.  I have told him to drive short trips - to uni and back and bringing out the family for lunch nearby so as to familiarize with the D9.  I too hope that he can handle it well.

Size and power is still big difference from D9.

Ody step wait for  power to build up,  D9 is immediate power.

Wow, what a long day.  Collected the car this afternoon at about 4pm and just parked the car at the MSCP at 10pm.  There are so many new features to learn and also trying to familiarize with the car.  Today, I have driven about 80km and still left with 82% battery or 428km.

Until now, I am still unable to pair my Samsung phone with the Blackvue 590X recording camera.  Will try again tomorrow.

Parking at the MSCP is intimidating.  With the back of the bumper about 10-20cm to the back wall, the front of the car is still protruding about 1ft from the parking lot.  The width of the car is so wide that I have to park with the mirror very close to the carpark pillar.  Going up and down the ramp, really have to use the 360 degrees camera.  Maybe after a while I will get use to it.

I have to say, it is a very fun car to drive.  My son, wife and I all drove today and we thoroughly enjoyed it.    When we stopped at a traffic light, another driver stopping by next to our car winded down his window and asked us whether we are driving and EV and whether it was a Denza.  He showed a thumbs up, smile and us and drove off.

Hmm this is despite your family used to driving an Ody.

It is a little bit wider and longer than the Odyssey.  I used to be able to reverse my Ody until my rear tyre hit the rear kerb at the MSCP before I stopped.  But now, my D9 rear bumper would have already hit the back wall before my rear tyre hit the kerb.  Furthermore, the D9 side mirrors is huge.  Because of that, it is much wider.

Achieved my best-ever energy consumption last evening and this was with a full load of 4 pax and AC turned on for both front and rear cabins.

For context, the claimed energy efficiency of the Denza D9 is 4.5km/kwh.

In my drive last evening, which was 95% on highways from checkpoint to checkpoint, I managed to clock a personal best of 6.27 km/kwh which is almost 40% better than the claimed range of the Denza D9.

In total, I drove 102.2km yesterday and used 15.45kwh of battery, which translates to a daily consumption figure of 6.61 km/kwh. Of course, not every drive on every other day will see these type of numbers but the D9 can quite safely do 480km on a full charge so something for potential D9 buyers to consider.

Hope the other D9 owners or even other EV owners of these full-sized e-MPVs here can chip in with their best consumption numbers and how it was achieved!

i hope adjusting to my new rode from my kia carnival is easier as its width etc all same except slightly longer hehe.

but yes the width is the one that needs time to adapt especially when navigating in tight spaces and parking.

just got my COE yesterday. car should arrive in SG mid march so soon!

I think better consumption on our city road is normal.  Unless you drive like crazy heavy foot every time.  Which is not necessary since EV has so much torque from the go.

My manual calculations on my EV is around 6.9km/kwh. Spec is 5.2 only.

For the D9, this is unfortunately not the case. I would say after a few months of driving, the expected average consumption is at 5km/kwh which is still better than the claimed. This is likely down to its poor drag coefficient, overall weight, and maybe power to weight ratio (this should apply to EVs as well) and the fact that most rides are with 3-4 pax  (else why buy MPV) in the car.

However, still better than my previous Alphard where a trip of 23km (in my example above) would probably costs me at least $6 in petrol costs while the D9 only costs $1.11 which is massive saving of 80%.
