So why was it a concern? @Zerstorer In the early post, the initial concern was the carrying capacity being 370kg based on the tables given in pages 189 and 190 of the owner's manual. That means I couldn't take my four of my bui bui 🏋️♂️ kakis with me on a trip up to Genting. 430kg is better, but that still means one bui bui kaki is going to be left behind. Previously it was two of them that gets left behind. Did you manage to grab the battery curve from VinCar / EV Hub on Aion V's high voltage magazine battery pack? It would be useful to know if the 10-year or 200,00kms warranty is valid or not. Zerstorer 2nd Gear October 10, 2025 Share October 10, 2025 Not much of a concern to me. To go into nitty gritty like this will cause decision paralysis. Would you do that to every EV brand out there? GACs track record on the magazine battery 2.0 is excellent and LFP batteries in EVs in have no issues with reliability and endurance across the industry. As a matter of curiosity, what Cat A car would be able to carry you and all your buibui friends?

As a matter of curiosity, what Cat A car would be able to carry you and all your buibui friends? BYD's Sealion 7 Dynamic. It's Cat A and has a carrying capacity of 540kg. Kerb weight of 2,160kg and gross vehicle mass of 2,700kg. That means each bui bui's 🏋️♂️max weight can be 108kg. 🤙 Still worried about the lack of a battery curve on GAC's magazine battery or the test certificate to show compliance to GB38031-2025 on battery safety. You see them just about everywhere and that inspires confidence. Having a very popular car also assures availability of spare parts and aftersales support network. Thats a logical mode of thinking and consumers and you can't fault that. For me I have always enjoyed taking risks on lesser known brands or my own perceived good deals. Ya, first time i see a car AD can have so many dealerships. Even one of the dealer has a restaurant concept. You see BM don't even have such concept. Actually when i go see BYD cars, i find their cars in terms of quality, features and built indeed not bad la. But when i go to others EV AD, i found out there are even better and price even lower or close. Lol.

In fact it wasn't even on my radar when I was shopping for an EV because I was just doing testing the models available in the ubi area. I decided to just go over lengkee and test the Aion Y plus because I heard good things about it. However once my family got into the Aion V, the deal was sealed immediately. Agree, when I compared the V to the Atto 3, no need talk, the V was better. And so was the MG S5. In fact MG S5 is the best imho of all the Cat A EVs. Its only the ridiculous 100kW (not even bother to program to Cat A 110kW limit) nerf that made me go fck it and Cat B Sealion. 1

Exterior wise the MGS5 looks better. Interior finish Aion V is better, imo interior finish and specs wise it's the best out of all cars under 200k. It has the longest range: 485km. Fastest charging: 180kw DC. Largest passenger space only it's stable mate Aion Y Plus matches it. Best equipment level, ventilated seats, massage chairs, fridge. The magazine 2.0 battery is also tested to survive a gunshot test as compared to the BYD Blade needle puncture test. So for safety it's at least on par. If not for it's somewhat safe dull exterior styling, it would probably sell alot faster.
Micb 5th Gear October 10, 2025 Share October 10, 2025 Another important consideration of which EV will be the reliability and stability of the system control software. I believe more information gathering are required like checking with existing EV owners of Atto 3, Aion V and MGS5. These 3 Cat A EV models are probably the most common on the road now. In terms of space, features and quality, Aion V indeed very good and yet it is priced not say very ex, i don’t understand what is the reason. No, i mean the performance, ride, overall interior/exterior and the software, I found it the best of the Cat A i tried so far. Might have bought it if it was un-nerfed cat B at say 189k back then And yah, seldom see MGS5, Jaecoo J6/7 or even Aion V on roads. But they are selling lah, maybe 30 to 50+ a month each. LTA has stats by manufacturer each month, can roughly see. https://www.lta.gov.sg/content/dam/ltagov/who_we_are/statistics_and_publications/statistics/pdf/M03-Car_Regn_by_make.pdf So you can see August alone, GAC sold 101 SUV EV, MG 75. Given the lineup, GAC should be mostly V (or Y?) and MG is S5. So even MG is outselling Mazda, Nissan, VW and Volvo. Aion V has higher OMV 30K vs MGS5 26K and yet both are offered at similar price so it should have better resale ceteris paribus.
Zerstorer 2nd Gear October 10, 2025 Share October 10, 2025 MG had roadshow in August for the MG4EV at very attractive NDP pricing(under 150K) so that could form bulk of the sales for that month.

Unlikely. MG has been here for some time. Eurokar has not been marketing it aggressively. ↡ Advertisement
