Will be anfield again? how come lately all home games like that?

Not sure if there is still a replay if the game ended in a draw. If bot wrong, letting the "stronger" play at home first will hand the "weaker" team an advantage on the replay... if the game goes into extra time (if there is) or penalties.

:D

Anyway i wonder if Pep Ljinder was Guardiola's mole all the time lol

Maybe he was the reason why Klopp always fall short by 1 or 2 pts 😝

Slot mentioned VVD, Konate, Gravenberch, Zsoboslai and Salah will be rested for the Carabao cup tie vs Southanpton..

Mama will feature in goal for sure with Robbo taking the armband at LB... Frimpong to regain match fitness by starting at RB... CB will be interesting... are we going to see Gomez partnering Leoni or will Slot ask Endo to drop into defence?

Isak to be unleashed up front with Wirtz behind him and Chiesa on the right? Will teenage sensation Ngumoha be starting or will Wirtz gets a run out on the left?

Endo should start with Nyoni as double pivot with Jones coming in  as AM if Wirtz takes up the left forward space. These two can interchange position during the game.

My line up:

Mama, Robbo (c), Frimpong, Gomez  Leoni, Endo, Nyoni, Jones, Wirtz, Isak, Chiesa

Ngumoha starts at left wing instead of Wirtz

Isak broke his duck with an assist from hardworking Chiesa. Very good pressing from Chiesa who intercepted a pass from Southampton goalie to his defender and cut back for Isak to side foot a first time shot....

A very poor pool side score against run of play from PL record signing Ishak

A slip plus a hospital pass from Gomez almost gifted the Saints two goals... luckily the cross bar was im the way...

What a strange game...  we are playing with 2 RBs and 2 LBs... Chiesa got the second assist for Ekitike to score... and Ekitike got sent off for a second yellow as he took out his jersey to celebrate... :D

win, but a very sloppy game.

A game that lacked intensity and energy. Probably because most of Pool players never had much gametime.

Only bright spark was Chielsa who looked like a real livewire.  Kudos to him for showing such mentality despite not int he CL team.

Liverpool 2 - 1 Southampton

My MOTM: Chiesa

Played 96 minutes... conjured the first goal out of nothing on right wing (though Isak did well with a clinical near post finish) and provided the cross for Ekitike from left wing... Gakpo and Wirtz should be worried...

Now he looks like a real bargain for a transfer fee of 12M?

He already dont get to play in UCL... his best bet to start games will be the two cup competiton... he die die want to win...

Gakpo should worry about his left wide forward position.. maybe Chiesa can rotate with Wirtz and Salah for no. 10 and right wide forward role.

Ekitike what a stupid thing to do.

(edited)

A much changed (expected) Liverpool side beat Saints 2 - 1 to advance to the 4th round.

Performance wise, it was a disjointed one as the changes were quite wholesale.

We took the lead through Isak, but let in an equalizer before Ekitike scored the winner.

He was promptly sent off for his goal celebrations, having been booked earlier. As such, he will miss this weekend’s game vs CP.

Another concern was Leoni being carried off injured. Hopefully not too serious.

Baring the above, it was good that a number or fringe players got good playing time. notably the likes of Endo and Chiesa etc…..

Liverpool team that took on Southampton:

Mamardashvili, Frimpong, Gomez, Leoni, Robertson, Nyoni, Endo, Jones, Chiesa, Isak, Ngumoha.

Subs: Woodman, Kerkez, Bradley, Ekitike, Williams, Gordon, Morrison, Pilling, Danns.
