Lala81 Hypersonic October 7, 2025 Author Share October 7, 2025 (edited) New additions to the tank over last few weeks - Lampeye. Still really like the look of them, can't get sick. - Danios (these fish are really speedsters with ADHD, kinda regret buying them) - Ricefish. Elegant looking fish. Can see the tank is having algae problem. The snail population exploded. I would cull them physically but since I have algae problems for now. Have to let them eat the algae. Lala81 Hypersonic November 1, 2025 Author Share November 1, 2025 based on what chatgpt says, koi bettas are just marbled bettas which are just regular bettas but with changing patterns. but haha they don't look that alike to regular bettas with the big fins. Regular Bettas are not with long fins. Plakat Bettas look more like their wild counterpart. Koi is just a term for plakat with fancy colours. I'm a Betta person, they are so much more interesting to watch. Abit like dogs in water. And they have their own characteristics. So must observe before considering any tank mates. But then bigger tank is a big waste of space for 1 fish... like the small cichlids that i passed to my FIL. Then really even other bigger fish it also go nip the fins. So now those 4 are stuck in some micro-tank... Edited November 1, 2025 by Lala81

Mine is in a 1 foot cube planted tank which is easy to maintain with a very low bio load esp with all the plants. He always pop his head out when I go near and flare at me when I point my finger at him. Lol. And he is the only Betta I have that attack snails. They don't show their character in the jars in the shop though. Coz of the terrible conditions.

Your aquarium has filtration? if yes may not need or less frequent water changes. Certain type of water plants not easy to grows.

Yes. Have a HOB filter with bio-media. I have also another UV filter which i switch on few hrs a week to keep algae in check. I can't run it all the time as the pump is too powerful and creates too large water flow (non adjustable flow rate). Lol makes my fish exercise swimming against current. This UVP is more suitable for a rectangular bigger tank.

Stary Turbocharged November 2, 2025 Share November 2, 2025 (edited) Long ago, I wanted to do aquascaping.......an aquarium with just plants. I don't want animals in it. I decided then to just save the money and buy veggie to eat.......😆 Edited November 2, 2025 by Stary

Lala81 Hypersonic November 12, 2025 Author Share November 12, 2025 Got small shrimp at the end. Likely offspring from the red neocaradinas. I didn't buy such a small shrimp. One of the amanos seem to be pregnant. Damn fat. Couldn't catch it in the video. Removed around 100 bladder snails over the last few days. Lol real infestation. What to do. ↡ Advertisement
