So it seems to me, instead of Passat B5, Passat B6, Passat B7, these buggers decide that progressive generations should go like Qin, Qin Plus, Qin L......  (and this is just for one of their lines, of which there is many with their own crazy naming)

Seriously, they need to hire me for global head of vehicle names.

In Singapore it’s opposite, every liter of petrol heavily taxed (66 cents per liter of Ron 95). So they tax EV gao gao to ensure they recover the lost petrol taxes and of course, cover the entire chain of infrastructure and operations costs to provide EV charge points everywhere.

Just remember that SG gov neve encourage car ownership due to the lack of space versus population. That is why those who want to own a car, will be "penalised" heavily and much more so down the road unless one is super rich.

@boonhat_91 Agree. A station wagon (or estate for the Conti lovers) is far more practical and useful than the sedan. Give up on some handling and accept a higher energy consumption, but get more boot space and comfort. Will be better than an SUV.

With all the confused naming convention adopted by BYD for their international versions of MIC rides, won't be surprised if the wagon version is named the Atto 6 or something totally left of field.

But it is a hybrid which next year even lesser incentive. And that, will make the selling price even higher.

And with this lesser incentive disadvantage for hybrid, whether BYD SG will bring them in is another thing.

From 2026, hybrid will lost $2.5k VES rebate while EV will lost $10k VES/EEAI rebate.

EV might have more price increase.

Forgo the tech, gimmicks and asthetics, a 10.9sec and to charge for 30 mins from 20 to 80...compared to 8 sec hybrid EV and pump for 3 mins.  Hmm.

Thought gahment is pushing for EV, then why they reduce $10k rebate for EV le? If EV price become more ex, there will be lesser people switch to EV liao.

it is the opposite. The reduction already trigger the fear that more "kan chiong" buyers are rushing to buy  the EV now.

Come 2026, the sales guy will tell potential buyers the rebate will be reduced further in 2027. Another round of fear tactics again.

Trust me. If the EV sales does not hit their target, they will tweak the rebate again to lure more buyers.

EEAI is not supposed to be there forever.

It was supposed to be removed by end of last year.

BYD has launched their new seal 6 today. Looks like the next round of coe, Cat A confirmed hit record high again, due to booking from car expo and BYD new model. Maybe Cat A will shoot up to at least $125k to $130k! Lol.

The removal of the rebates will increase cost of 10k, but the increase in CAT A COE was 13k and poised to be higher in the next bidding.

This is the epitome of penny wise pound foolish.

I think China EVs is winning global market share due to the inherent design of EV itself which requires little maintenance and most comes with 8-10 years of battery warranty and even free servicing, so the traditional spare parts availability advantage from Jap ICE cars like Toyota doesn't apply anymore. This major shake up rolling like a Tsunami is inevitable.

If Jap cars like Honda & Toyota don't catch up with better EVs at affordable price, they will be in deep trouble very soon - either have to close shop or else forced to collaborate with the China makers, in fact it's already happening to some Conti brands LOL.

This MY Seal 6 Premium comes with 215 HP which is the higher-spec variant not available in Singapore. In Singapore, we only get a single variant, the 129 HP Premium, which is considered the lower-spec “Dynamic” version in Malaysia.

Singapore government is executing their well thought out plan of having CoE prices above $100k going forward. This despite the high number of de-registrations of rides whose CoE will be expiring in 2026. For those who bought their rides 10 years ago when CoE was low and hoping to renew or get a new ride - the dream has turned into a nightmare.😱

In 2016, there were 87,504 new registrations according to LTA. All these will start to expire in a few months time and owners have a hard decision make:

1. Scrap and get a new ride;

2. Renew CoE;

3. Get a re-sale ride; or

4. Change name to Carlos.

With Singapore government's car lite policy, the logical decision is to choose item 4 and change one's name to Carlos. But, giving up something that one's been used to for the past nine years is hard to do. Pride of ownership and convenience are major factors.

Spec sheet from BYD on the Seal 6.

Carrying capacity is quite low at 375kg. Not suitable as a bui-bui family ride🏋️‍♂️.

Maybe with mum and dad bui-bui at the front with a few fur babies at the back would be okay.  🏋️‍♂️🏋️‍♀️🐕🐈
