I happened to see it on the road somewhere near Alexandra today around 12pm+, didn't recognise the model.

From side profile, it kinda looks larger than the Seal. Somehow reminded me of the Sonata...

About the road tax, the SL6 is $1153/yr.

The competitor, Jaecoo J7 PHeV is $1096, despite fitting with a 1.5t engine with the total BHP and torque higher then SL6, and fitted with the same 18.3 kWh battery

However, the road tax for J7 is lesser. Am I missing something??

Because of our top scholar genius no need oppo to check well paid so no-corruption gahmen decided that road tax is engine cc component plus EV motor rating.

The two 1.5 engines same displacement, but the SL6 has a few hp more rating for the electric motor.

Top scholar genius doesnt care if you are rotary or atkinson or turbo, use swept volume. So actually most of the Hybrid luigi cos of Atkinson.

International getting the older variant again.

Below is the new one for domestic market.

Its not older variant. Its the current model of the Qin Plus EV, just facelifted in China also (we get the facelift).

Its just the naming. This is not a Seal 6. Its a Qin Plus. Your video is the real Seal 6.

BYD naming is sibei confusing and messy.

I also correct their naming scheme very confusing. We have a Seal and now a Seal 6. So where is Seal 1 to Seal 5? 😂

Then their Chinese naming also equally confusing. Qin, Han….

For Malaysia, the new Seal 6 EV (not the same Seal 6 from CDM, WTF which their naming scheme so China Seal 6 is not equal to international Seal 6, that a totally different model) can be obtained in two variants. Here they are, alongside their Malaysian pricings:

BYD Seal 6 EV Premium: RM115,800

BYD Seal 6 EV Dynamic: RM100,000

For those who are wondering about the EV road tax that you may have to pay starting in 2026, the amount will be RM180 per year for the Seal 6 EV Premium. For the Seal 6 EV Dynamic, the road tax will be much lower at just RM60 per year.

Their road tax vs our road tax. 🤣 They paid RM60 and RM180 for a year, what the heck.

RM115800 + RM180 = RM115980 (SGD$35150), oh well as our 10 years paper itself already cost SGD$119003 (RM392710).

Not bad, our COE CAT A price can buy at least 3 of their Premium model with road tax, just nice they only got 3 colours and still got change left. Just a sad comparison that only singapore can dream.

For 1.6L petrol car, road tax in:

Malaysia: RM90

Singapore: $700

No surprise

BYD naming is sibei confusing and messy.

This model Seal 6 EV here in SG is actually, Qin L EV in China, which is a new model which shares the same platform as the true Seal 6 EV domestically.

But regardless, with the naming confusion, it only shows that BYD has no proper models naming and planning, and now even they themselves are confused.

Why I said so? Domestically, Qin, Yuan (which is Atto 3 here) and other Han are their "Dynasty" series with the "Dragon face" front nose design philosophy. So this newly introduced "Seal 6 EV" here, should actually be named as another "Atto" series (maybe "Atto 5" or "Atto 6"?) for export models. Because the "Seal" series, their front nose design adopted the "Ocean" theme design philosophy. BUT BYD decided to marketed it as another Seal model instead.

Then recently Europe markets had the hybrid DMI model, which is called Seal 6 (A wagon and sedan body design). So... This laggi adds up more confusion.

All I can say is, BYD just simply fxxked up with their lineup structure. This is like some parents who just only bother to make babies for the numbers and forgot which child is what name.

This makes sense because in Malaysia, the govt subsidises petrol. So it makes sense for them to encourage motorists to pump less petrol.

In Singapore it’s opposite, every liter of petrol heavily taxed (66 cents per liter of Ron 95). So they tax EV gao gao to ensure they recover the lost petrol taxes and of course, cover the entire chain of infrastructure and operations costs to provide EV charge points everywhere.
