I thought atto3 just facelift-ed? Wouldn't it make the just 2025 facelift-ed atto3 lose its value instantly?

Maybe for china made EV car, they only keep facelift the model than introduce a brand a new model?

China EV usually is like mass produced smartphones so annually got facelift based on trends.

Maybe you are correct for byd. I think this is not good in SG context cos imagine spending 200k on brand new car and it gets outdated on 1 year? 😅 I can't understand this. It is not hp which I can just put into my drawer as backup. 😂

That was what xpeng sales told me as well when the facelift G6 was launched and was opened for order just few months later. Very fast.

I guess EV will get outdated fast. They just need to update the technology and the EV will become better.

You see some EV model can improved on the range and battery size within 3 years. So if you buy the launch model, it would become “old” technology liao.

I actually see it the other way. The release of new features and technology OTA is actually a boon and biggest attraction for me to cross over to EV. In fact, it keeps the ride up to date with latest features. 😉 I had ever tried asking ICE AD in the past to update my SW during servicing as I knew there was new release for some features. Local AD says need to pay if customer asks for it. 😵‍💫 Crazy. Some EV brand does constant OTA update, especially for critical safety concern. No need for recall and waste time like ICE.

Guess my main pt is not abt the constant technological upgrades, but more of the constant yearly exterior facelift that will make this year's model outdated come next year.

Would like to see BYD implement their newest version of the blade battery (version 2.0) in the 2026 Atto 3 facelift.

Blade battery 2.0 will have about 40% higher energy density (210 Whr/kg vs. 150Whr/kg) compared to the first generation of the blade battery. So for the same battery capacity (60.5kWhr), the Atto 3 should be much lighter and travel farther. I.e. better range.

It's also cheaper to produce - around 15% less than current generation. Note that for B&B rides, the most expensive item is the high voltage battery pack which contributes to around 40% of the bill of materials. The lower cost of production will give BYD a pricing advantage since it's a vertically integrated vehicle manufacturer. Should see the OMV of the 2026 Atto 3 facelift drop accordingly. Current Atto 3 average OMV is $31.5k.

Details of blade battery 2.0 is here: https://v2charge.com/blade-2-0-byd-new-battery-electric-cars/

Will they update the technology for the existing EV owners if there is any new updates?

EV constant technology updates is good for people who have not buy yet. You get newer, better and faster tech.

Yes. My EV already got 2~3 updates with new features or enhancements in space of 2 months ownership.

My friend's older model also gets updated OTA.
