China is putting this in their cars too

this is the future of braking

won't be surprised if the first car manufacturer that incorporates this is Chinese, given their breakneck development speed.

it's akin to hydraulic power steering -> EPS; no more having to change/bleed brake fluid, then the only fluids left in EVs would be in the coolant & aircon systems.

and many advantages when the machine can control the braking forces of the wheels, individually

with the finesse and speed that no human can match

of course

last time we also heard people say they can do manual ABS by stomping the pedal very fast to avoid locking up the wheels....

Should not be difficult. Replace the master cylinder (or pedal itself) with one with pressure sensor, and all the calipers with the electric ones.

James gonna be very happy, frayed wires are less suspicious than cut hydraulic hoses!

@Gnahp MaSeeLee have a ''SBC'' Braking System by Bosch in early 2000,but i think the System failed, can you find the News & post it here.?

my BMW motorcycle from the same era also has this "electro-hydraulic" braking system

the idea/concept was brilliant but it will fail eventually and it cannot be repaired

have to replace the entire unit that cost a few thousands dollar

mine didn't fail during my ownership

I like it as it made you feel like superman with one finger braking

and all the motor whining sound while waiting at traffic lights like an iron man suit 😁

luckily I dump it before it fails

Trust the ang mo to cock it up with electro-mechanical systems. Always good for the 1st 1-2years or till warranty ends and then all goes to hell.
they will say it need maintenance for perfection. They expect you to print money to feed their pride. 😂

to be fair, that's electronics from 20+ years ago

our last w204 had e-throttle failure because of worn plastic gears (high mileage, happened at 262k km)

the car went into limp mode, instead of some catastrophic mode or give up totally

allowing my wife to drive 20+km on the expressway at 10km/h, to bring that thing home

that's why Brembo come into the picture mah

everything is good and moving forward in my opinion

except the additional unsprung weight from the electric motor and gearset

simi lightweight forged super alloy additive manufactured caliper all throw out of the window now
