RadX Moderator August 5 Author Share August 5 So after all that, is the 12V really an issue per se? OR just some hyped up bigoted narrative....

Ok due to volume too small or is it contained to that batch only nonetheless , good to monitor this space

Could even be the batch of 12v (even diff supplier), different programming for the recharge software, they have different accessories etc. Since its a traditional 12v, can plug in portable taobao battery charger? Or these new fangled cars need some special software/technique/process to charge a dead 12v?

Tesla better BMS to make sure 16v always charged. That's main battery will drop 1 or 2% when Sentry mode on.
therock Supersonic August 5 Share August 5 (edited) Thank you for the fresh start, and hope everyone can help and share. I am one of the first, if not the first to book this way back when my rep told me when I was looking at the RAV4. Parked nearby under wraps was this car and it looked interested and with a price tag that was also good. Nowhere near Bro Heartland's deal, but the soft launch price was nice and I got the last batch of COE that qualified for PARF under the old scheme as a consolation. Will share more on my thoughts on driving the car for the past few months in due course - collect in March. The decision to get this car was done after a protracted search due to my concerns about EV cars and my own driving needs and the preference for a traditional layout. therock Supersonic August 5 Share August 5 (edited) So to address the 12v thing first. Thus far, the issue seems to be related to the DCM, which is the modem which causes parasitic drainage due to constant activity on the car. The app and the comms between the app, the car and also the Toyota centres occurs when the car is stationary, and turned off, so it relies on the 12v to power this DCM. Once you cut off the app or in our regions where there is no app, it is fine. It also doesn't affect everyone, mainly in North America ie USA and Canada. The Europeans and Asia Pac regions are spared. It's still being worked upon but like many other cars, it's not unique to the BZ and certain habits will drive up this issue. Many times the car is left parked for many days and doesn't do long distances when it's used so it doesn't get the needed recharge. It also seems owners like to use the 'accessory' mode, which turns on the AC / Radio etc but that is powered by the 12v battery. So as a workaround, use the "ready" mode, which is akin to powering up the 'engine' in older tech ICE and the traction battery will be used and there are no issues even with using the app. You can even use the AC for the whole night with only 1-2% energy used. There are people posting workaround, eg removing the sensor to allow the traction battery to recharge the 12V fully each time the car is on, will post a link later... therock Supersonic August 5 Share August 5 This is from N America, but again this issue doesn't affect our cars. The recall is also for the BZ cars
Tianmo Hypersonic August 5 Share August 5 My opinion is, if there is an issue, then fact is there is an issue, weather or not it affects you is another thing. Just keep an open mind and be aware that if it does affects, you know it was there, and if never come, then congratulations and enjoy it. Ying and yang never part, so learn to accept that everything has 2 sides. If you want an agreement, be prepared for a disagreement too, otherwise don't ask for any. Everyone is entitled to their views, and that's their views, even if it is against your's. They might gather that view from a source of information different from yours. If you don't agree to it, you have a choice to confront or walk away. If you choose to confront, then fight like man. Take the battle with pride if can prove them wrong, or admit it like a man and walk away peacefully if their facts are right. Yes you bought a product, and it may have some fault, but hey you didn't create that fault, neither do you want to buy that fault, but the fault came with the purchase, what can you do? You choose to buy, you live with it. There is nothing for you to defend, nor can defend. Sportsmanship doesn't just apply in sports. There is no need to call out to the MOD assuming an entertainment is enjoyed out of something not in favor. If you do, then get your facts together and prove it. I know the feeling, that excitement of getting a new toy, everyone does, however old. And it's human nature to want to be recognized as taking a correct bet, that's fine really. However, if you keep singing it like something great is going to happen when it is written on the wall that it's not, and you are just living in your own world singing out loud your wishes, over and over again, it gets irritating. Sometimes, ppl give face for old time sake, but when that is taken away, it means the level of irritation is above avg already. So, yah let's discuss peacefully, agree or disagree, confront or walk away, do it like a man. Yes,, wall of text. But it is what it is. 2
therock Supersonic August 5 Share August 5 (edited) I agree with you, and I had hoped to put the matter behind. But just to clarify, someone can totally disagree with a person's choice. Make fun of the interior, eg, you talked about the high rear bench. No fuss, no quarrels. Highlighting faults in the car, is also no issue. Good to know these facts, and learn. Even if it makes the car look bad, it's ok, even if the person isn't buying, forget it and learn. Not nice but it's all part and parcel of the forum. In fact I was the one who highlighted the 12v issues, and a few other stuff to share with potential owners. Now using wrong data is not nice. Especially if it is false stuff. What if someone makes a statement about your SL7 that is not true? Or quote the wrong info repeatedly? I was very civil to him initially, but if the advice is ignored then that's not good. I hope with this new thread that side of things plus the other comments are now put in the past. Be civil, sort it out like gentlemen, I also learnt that from you. This is gospel truth, and words of wisdom again, thank you bro Quote So, yah let's discuss peacefully, agree or disagree, confront or walk away, do it like a man. therock Supersonic August 5 Share August 5 (edited) This was from the previous thread Some interesting points about the local version of the car for sale: FWD - 221 hp - 167kw front motor, torque 268nm 0-100 7.4 s comes with 10 year warranty on battery or 200 000 km with 70% charge. In comparison, in Japan you get 1 million km and 90% left, so I guess they are quite confident 20" rims 235/50/20 Dunlop Sport Maxx sunroof Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (one step behind the RAV4) infotainment system taken from the recent Lexus and Alphard, comes with voice commands and built in GPS 22kw AC, 150 kw DC charging capability 73.1kw battery (but about 69kw is accessible, the rest is kept in reserve) range of 478km with those 20" rims no rear wiper no glove box no V2L no driver alert sensor Toyota Sense 3.0 Auto park road tax $1895 AIG insurance $1863.50 360 camera - unlike RAV4 auto tailgate with kick function right side USB under the console takes up to 128 gb of music data there's a hidden compartment in the central glovebox car, battery, and most parts are made in Japan, the traction battery comes from a collab with panasonic which is partly owned by Toyota the CHR+, Soltera and BZ come from the same Motomachi factory The touring and E Outback are made by Subaru in their Guma factory it is interesting that the insurance and road tax are the same or even lower than the RAV4 There's free solar, front and back cameras and a bunch of perks but you need to take up their 100k loan for 7 years Current prices might be even lower than the soft launch start, but ask and squeeze the rep, they should be hungry The Soltera and E Outback plus the Touring are AWD and are about 5.5 or less 0-100. But incur much more road tax. Edited August 5 by therock
Tianmo Hypersonic August 5 Share August 5 (edited) As far as I am concerned, I don't remember mentioning about the back seat of the car here, to you or anyone else, I might have, but I don't remember. However, I do remember talking about it with you via whatsapp when you approached me, and I do remember clearly telling you that stay away from Toyota if you are going for an EV. Those however, are private discussions. First up, I admit that the SL7 has faults too, no car is a perfect car, but if I listen to someone, agree with him and buy, then I live with it, I can't blame him since I choose to listen. Then there is the part where if you feel strongly the data is incorrect, then it is up to you to gather the correct data and present it to him to get it corrected or debate it out. Facts talk, not I think you think. Present facts and let the facts manage the outcome. If you are too lazy to collect data to counter, don't expect others to take your words for it, even if that set of information might be misleading, prove it first. Otherwise live with it or walk away from it. Anyone else who believe it that set of data is their choice, you are not answerable for it. Again, facts talk. Not happy, prove him wrong, with facts and data. And if he comes back, be prepared or give up. Edited August 5 by Tianmo
therock Supersonic August 5 Share August 5 (edited) Thanks, I made my peace after your advice, showed my family, and I do want to highlight it here, that the rear bench is a bit high, so the taller folks might really hate it. We also posted in the SUV choice thread, not talking about the private stuff, which remains there. Thank you once again. I asked my wife, my mum, and kid, they were happy and most importantly, my wife likes the old school buttons feels and doesn't want a Chinese EV so that was that. Took my family there many times until the rep recognised my car. Yep, my buying journey is slower and more deliberate than most others. All your advice was appreciated, thank you. And the shampoo too, I didn't forget. Cheers 🙂 Anyway, I also went onto take the EV course, so I'm a qualified EV tech now, I can even certify EV chargers. Got the whole set of gear, testing equipment and all.. For those who are keen to attend or know more, just pm me.
