Dudemobile Neutral Newbie July 16, 2003 Author Share July 16, 2003 Skoda_Man trying hard to replicate it to see if it happens again. I hate this type of intermitten problems. Hopefully i can rectify it and get any other things sorted out, while still under warranty.
Dudemobile Neutral Newbie July 16, 2003 Author Share July 16, 2003 Cool, Keeping what u said in mind, cos it's either the ECU, fuel pump/filter, or the electrical supply. Cos engine shuddered, batt light came on and died. immediate crank nothing happened, take out key then crank and she fired up like nothing went wrong. Funny thing is without the air-con the idle is not very stable, macham the needle move very small up and down. gonna go for my 5000 serviceing soon, so gonna get them to check the sensor readings. My previous ride used to stall when the idle servo went bust. then had to change it for $300, only early this year.
Cool Neutral Newbie July 16, 2003 Share July 16, 2003 (edited) DAMM,... i ACCIDEntally deleted my entire post while trying to highlight it.. Anyway.. I think things are not so complicated. Could you check your stock grounding point.. there shold be 3 points. The ECU grounding is normally on the right side facing the bonnet.. it shold not be loose. If it is lose, it will happen.. at the ECU things that it has been removed and when the connection comes back, the Check Engine lights appear until you completely turn off and restart again. When you take out key.. you completely shut down the car system. Now when you insert back.. the car things that you fixed it and ECU will reset. Now with your air-con explaination, I am wondering if there is drain from your battery that cos your alternator to work harder and your idle shoots up. Conti car air-con is different from what I know from Jap cars.. sorry cannot advice you on this. If the air-con thingy happens just before the stall problem... then it could be the air-con wiring or sensor problem. Else it may not be related to it What is your stock battery AMP ?? Noramlly minimum I reco is 48AMP... Edited July 16, 2003 by Cool

Thunder Neutral Newbie July 18, 2003 Share July 18, 2003 Hi, IMHO, it could have been caused by water in your fuel line. Sometimes water get into your fuel tank and if this water somehow gets into your fuel line and travel to your engine, it will die. Then when you crank it again, because the water is gone, it will run fine.
Skoder Neutral Newbie July 18, 2003 Share July 18, 2003 Tho chances are very slim, but it may happen Usually, when a bit of water gets into the fuel, the engine will usually choke abit and got on. but kill the engine, means quite a bit of water has gotten in.... IMHO, unlikely la...new SDZ summo.....
Skodee Neutral Newbie July 18, 2003 Share July 18, 2003 Hi Greg, For mine, I noticed when you open the boot and after about 30 secs, the driver's lights will go off automatically and thus causing the boot light to blink for a split second. After that it stays on for as long as you keep the boot open. Anyone can advise what's the lifespan of Octy battery? Mine is 2 yrs old and heard that the battery can last for 5 yrs?? Sonnytay Neutral Newbie July 19, 2003 Share July 19, 2003 Very soon, my friend, very soon. If you follow the thread on the Battery Lifespan, most will last 2 to 2-1/2 years. Suggest you send car to change batt the moment some indications surface, like radio volume loud/soft intermittenly (my case), display light flicker? etc. In my case, there wasn't any normal warning like car need 2-3 crank to start the day before etc. Anyway, Octavia batt is 60 amh. Skodee Neutral Newbie July 22, 2003 Share July 22, 2003 Hi, Thanks for the advice. Will try to change it soon as will be driving up north in a few weeks time...got a quote from CA and cost about $200 after discount, is it too ex?
Volk74 Neutral Newbie July 22, 2003 Share July 22, 2003 Hmm... seems like all Octy here is facing the normal "abnormal" boot light blinking problem. Mine also happen but very short timing, around 0.1 sec. The part U mention is it lower the my pic here? Hi Raptor, Yes I mean the bottom most part in your pic, ...my body is white...but only that part is in black colour... Have check with CA, they said this is the original... Veron Neutral Newbie July 22, 2003 Share July 22, 2003 Most of us paid $180 for the Varta maintenance-free and $150 for Hoeppecke MF. Got other brands/prices, check out the battery thread in Skoda lounge http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...y;so=ASC;mh=25;.
Gendut 2nd Gear July 23, 2003 Share July 23, 2003 Could be air leaking past your throttle body or intake manifold. I once read somewhere someone posted (cannot remember) that on idle, his car's throttle orifice is plugged causing unstable idling speed. Or maybe there is nothing wrong after all.... Dudemobile Neutral Newbie July 24, 2003 Author Share July 24, 2003 CA just called to tell me that there is some water in my fuel tank, dunno how bad. Told me to avoid the same brand for the time being. Me going for BP or Mobil.
Cool Neutral Newbie July 24, 2003 Share July 24, 2003 THere is one bottle of STP Fuel Cleaner (black one) cost $6 that remove water. Try that. Now, If your fuel has water.. it could be: 1. during car wash, you did not cap it proper or the Fuel gasket ring has holes or expanded. Chances that your fuel tank might rust too if you do not maintain full tank always. Get your SE to check to ensure fuel tank has no rust my 2 cents
Ace_t Neutral Newbie July 24, 2003 Share July 24, 2003 mine just died on me today on a slip road outside my home... unable to crank engine after that. Waited awhile before I could crank again. Drove a short while and it died again. Much later, drove to mechanic and nothing wrong was found. Altho mech said possibly that fuel pump might be failing. (Just changed it a year ago)
Cool Neutral Newbie July 24, 2003 Share July 24, 2003 (edited) It is not the fuel pump. could be the o-ring at the regulator.. E21S and I had the same problem before. Did the mech took out the fuel pump and check. Cos if engine hot, the o-ring expands and pressure sips in .. u said that you changed the fuel pump, well that is a possible problem. there is an o-ring that goes around the pump outlet and the fuel line. sometimes it is either not there when the pump is reinstalled, or it is broken, or expanded or no new replacement when the assembly was changed (re-used). this o-ring keeps the system pressurized. when that o-ring is missing, all the fuel that was in the lines from the last time the car was running is drained back into the tank due to the pressure leak. my 2 cents Edited July 24, 2003 by Cool ↡ Advertisement
