I there I ordered Volvo XC made in Sweden and exported from UK.

The best is when CASE asked him about the breakdown, seems like he was trying to smoke...

His reply:

Below is an illustrative breakdown of the estimated mileages (provided by the company) resulting from each stage of the delivery from factory to Sg:

1. Mileage clocked at factory 5km

2. Movement from factory to Zeebrugge port for export (and movement at port) 10km

3. Movement from Zeebrugge port to Southampton UK port (and movement at ports) 5km

4. Movement from Southampton UK port to UK dealer 5km

5. Movement from UK dealer to UK dealer's appointed workshop for installation of parts/accessories 20km

6. Movement from UK dealer to exporter premises 60km

7. Movement from SG port to PSA warehouse at destination (and movement at port) 1km

8. Movement from PSA warehouse to local storage 1km

Car is gonna complete repair and should be collecting this week.

1. Hopefully itâs Last bomb received! Today AD called and advise there is a missing coolant cap! Need to pay again.

To be fair, i don't understand how there could be a missing coolant cap, won't the coolant splash out and have a reduced quantity?

I take it you have gone for vitas.. So they didn't detect it?

From the figures above, quite risky to drive by themselves.

CASE penalized him?

Hmm, you are lucky that Wearnes entertained you. And they even spotted missing coolant cap rather than the PI.

In the olden days if you buy a Honda Fit and tries to buy a common spare part from Kah Motor from Honda Jazz, they asked for your registration number for checking of records. Not sure what’s the situation now. I think it’s all about costs. AD stocks up spares and do repair for cars bought from them at a premium price. Supporting cars bought from PI will be unfair to those who bought from ADs.

Nonetheless, hope your ordeal with PI has ended and happily driving your car.

Cheers.

To check chassis number is to ensure that you will get the right parts. Some stockists will ask for chassis number as well, now they can even tell exactly the car model from the license plate number. I guess the only diff is for PI car, Kah Motor will probably not give disconnt on parts, I bought my KM Odyssey parts from them before and they gave me 20% or 25% discount if I remember correctly.

Yup they are one of the renowned ones. They were one of my intended PIs before I settled on another company. Edited by strindt

These Parallel Importers still use 1960's tactics to try to trick you into a purchase.

I just inquired a car model from 3 different PIs on their website, all whom listed available stocks of that model on SGCarmart.  Because all the PIs offer 5 or 10 years on warranty, I decided only to ask those who had been in operation for at least that long.  I said I wanted only to see ready stock with VAC for immediate purchase.

One did not reply.

Only one of them actually had the cars in the showroom to see, but the cars had been VAC'ed more than six months ago and were sitting there with a dead battery.  Nonetheless, lackluster interest from salesperson to the extent that I walked out.  Strange thing is that I can see their cars listed on SGCarmart under the 'used car' section, with registration date Apr 2019, May 2019 etc.  Maybe more experience bros here can tell me what that means in terms of expecting to be the first owner of the car?

The second contacted me via Whatsapp, said they had one ready unit, would bring me to their stock to view.  When I got there with family, all he did was to aggressively push their 'super year end promotion' Mercedes GLA.  When questioned about the car, tried to dodge with

a) car was already booked by someone and waiting for loan approval

b) can't see the car anyway because you don't know how dirty the stock room is and it's really not clean and you don't want to bring your family there

This sort of 'bait and switch' ah beng tactic belongs in the 1960s.  It's an immediate turn off and this is the only conclusion I can come to:

1) if they can lie to get you into the showroom they can lie about anything

2) nothing they promise on the deal can be trusted

3) nothing they promise on the warranty can be trusted

I really don't know why anyone would engage with parallel importers any more.  I bought my last car from a PI but luckily didn't get burnt (yet).  Still have to see what happens if I ever have a warranty claim.
