Frankie Neutral Newbie October 20, 2003 Share October 20, 2003 I got my new car not long ago. Every morning, I realise the disc brase area got rusty. Any idea why? Is this normal? Any harm to the car? ↡ Advertisement

Zolidlim Neutral Newbie October 20, 2003 Share October 20, 2003 Bro, welcome, its very normal as the brake discs are stripped (bare metal) by the braking force and therefore they are exposed....
Madarmour Neutral Newbie October 20, 2003 Share October 20, 2003 That seems to be a normal phenomenon.

Frankie Neutral Newbie October 20, 2003 Author Share October 20, 2003 I think i should put some anit rust oil on it since I am going on vacation and wont be driving the car for at least 3 weeks. Else ppl will know the car has not be driven.
Ace_t Neutral Newbie October 20, 2003 Share October 20, 2003 I think bad idea to oil your discs.. have u ever thought that the oiling will reduce braking friction and results in your car losing it's braking effectiveness ? let it rust... it won't corrode. Desmond Neutral Newbie October 20, 2003 Share October 20, 2003 Hi Frankie, It is a good practice to let someone start the engine at least once a week.If not,you might end up having a flat battery or some mechanical parts jammed due to lack of lubrication in the engine.Let it run at least 10 to 15 mins.
