Bluz Neutral Newbie May 6, 2004 Author Share May 6, 2004 upzzz... anyone tried this supercharger? any advice/comment? http://www.autodesigns.com.sg/aircharger-pixs.htm
Sapience Clutched May 7, 2004 Share May 7, 2004 wouldn't we need to get through lots of LTA's hurdles just to install a supercharger... i guess if you can afford the time...
Phalanx Neutral Newbie May 7, 2004 Share May 7, 2004 I don't think we can consider that a "real" supercharger..superchargers usually have brands from large tuner companies and give massive increase in power/torque.
Yeobh 4th Gear May 7, 2004 Share May 7, 2004 If yr ride is registered with naturally aspirated engine and if you decided to add in a supercharge or turbocharger you will have a lot to explain to both the inpsection centre in your bi-annual inspection and later LTA and if cannot be resolve thy may see you in court. Vtim 3rd Gear May 7, 2004 Share May 7, 2004 To install Supercharger, you need to send to LTA for approval, will take sometime for approval & lots of documents to prove that it's save for your car. For NA upgrade, you can go for HAMANN: HAMANN High Capacity Engine HM26 for Z3 2.0i. 194 hp/143 kW. Engine conversion contains: Crankshaft Sports Pistons Special Rods Sports Camshafts Sports Air-Filter Sports-Silencer
No_regret Clutched May 7, 2004 Share May 7, 2004 I dont think this is consider a real supercharger. Its like the E68 use in K20A right? Think a normal engine compression rate not suitable to fit in a real turbo leh.
Bluz Neutral Newbie May 7, 2004 Author Share May 7, 2004 thx all for your comments. according to the shop, they said their customers have no problems with LTA. in any case it is easily reversible (according to them). i was tempted to install a supercharger to my Z3 because i was very impressed with the kompressor C class (which recently replaced my 3 year old 2.2L E46 320i). although the supercharged 1.8 merc is no match for the 2.2lter 6 cyclinder bimmer i was still very impressed with the merc's efficiency--reasonably powerful and low fuel consumption. as i intend to deregister the z3 in its 5th year (in 2005), i'll probably install the kit a few months just before de-registering the car in order to see what it can do. Besides, the Minis are coming with it now stock standard, designed for Beemers.

But the supercharger inside the C-Class is the real McCoy that pumps out a lot of power. The yellow thingy from Autodesign just let in a little bit more air, just take a look at the device, I believe the fans inside is teeny weeny. It's like comparing apples with grapes. No offence. Assassin Clutched May 7, 2004 Share May 7, 2004 Hi there Bluz, Welcome to MCF ! do enjoy your stay here and come along for our weekly evening meetups ! Thats actually an air charger..not a Supercharger. You might want to check out some of the workshops (eg. BVO) that work with the blue propellor. Perhaps they can give some recommendations. Some Supercharger brands that come to mind are the ASA and ESS brands. Cheers

Bluz Neutral Newbie May 8, 2004 Author Share May 8, 2004 i know. this Hamann setup could easily run into 5 figures. The Autodesign kit (altough not expensive) is probably a waste of time--look masak masak. Better 'loon' for a while more with the standard Z3 and save the money for a proper replacement model.
