Hi there... Sorry to hijack your thread as I am unable to create a new one as my post counts < 25. Currently, my Aveo 1.4 is able to start up and batteries are okay. However, on 2 separate incidents, my engine rev count went below 0 and died the instance I stopped accelerating. Moreover, when I started up my engine today, the car thermometer needle was in C instead of the usual middle point. Fellow bros kindly guide me along for this problem. Thanks a lot!

Hi guys,

having the same problem again. In fact, it is worse!

my chevy aveo 1.4 (old model) can be started up and everything runs per normal. however, on many separate occasions, when i braked the vehicle, the whole car just dies off suddenly. problem can sometimes be resolved by lowering the gear and the engine can be kick started back. this is very dangerous as my foot brakes just stopped and i have resorted to hand brake on many occasions.

have pointed out this to various mechanics but all said no problem. moreover, the problem is very random and just appears from time to time. my dad told me that the MAF sensor had been repaired already.

kindly guide me in this issue. Lots of thanks!!

Engine already started liao, whatz that got to do with batts????

[confused][confused][confused]

The alternator in my car once failed. Even though, engine has started and if the alternator is not charging the battery, the battery will be drained.

Chevy's problem is very interminent and on many occasions, we

are left stranded on the road helpless.

I have changed so many parts in my Aveo untill I decided

to sold off after 3yrs of ownership.

( Timing Belt/Alternator/Ignition Coil/Distributor/Crank Sensor/Absorber/ABS Actuator

etc..)

This car is a Joke. Not only its not build to last, there's simply too much problems

to list. My current ride, a Sunny is into the 6th year of ownership and not a single

problem. My wife also comment that dont ever looked at Chevy cars again no matter

how well they presented themselves. It just wont last.

HI.

Sorry for interrupting this tread, but i'm new to this forum and didn't know my way ard.

I got a problem with my Chevy.

This morning when i started the engine and sat in the car reading newspaper, 5 minutes later the engine died on me. I didn't even turn on the air-con, only the radio. Is this a feature of the Chevy?

Thanks for helping me here ...

Hmmm... You mean that even if I have changed any parts, the problems will come back again?

i bought a chevy optra back in 2005...the first 6 mth were nightmare...

1) aircon blowers were replaced twice (smoke was blown out from the aircon outlets)

2) fuel sensor replaced twice... (tank was full...but fuel gage didnt agree with it)

3) engine rev > 2000 rpm after starting the engine...and refuse to drop till the first gear is engaged.

4) one of the fuel injector spoilt....and they told me it was one in a million chance

car was towed out of my carpark after incident 4

( my case was so unique tat upon calling Starauto and quoting my car plate....they will come straight to my place. All the supervisors in their workshop were aware of my car history)

All this while, I suspected there was something wrong with the ECU ..but Starauto didnt buy in.

After incident #4, sent a complaint letter to GM Thailand where the car was built.

Starauto took in my car and did a "thorough" check....ECU was finally replaced. and all the problems ended. Also provided FOC on parts and labor for 3 yrs.

Sold off the car after the 3 yrs were up...and driving a Stream eversince.
