SG/JB Customs Question

Went into JB this morning... at MY customs, was asked to stop as usual by 2 customs guys... so opened the boot and they waved me on...drove out happily and then got stopped by another customs officer who made me reverse (while stopping all the cars from coming out) and then driving into some bay with about 5 men waiting to check my car. They opened the boot and took a glance then opened the rear door and looked in and waved me on... DUH.... never experienced this in my years of driving in....

Then when on the way back to SG, at the SG customs, while stamping my passport, the lady asked for my car plate number. I asked her what it was for, she said its just to key into the system. Never heard of such thing before, and neither have my friends in 2 other cars in their years of driving in and out...

Anybody knows or have been asked for their car plate before? Just find it strange [dizzy]

hmmm, quite strange leh.

Never been asked for plate no. before.

And at MY custom, never been "raped" by some many officers.

You carrying VCDs, ah?

BTW, what car are u driving? That could be the cause if you are driving one of those blacklisted cars, like Civic ESI, or modded vehicle. (on SG side). [sly]

Hi Lightspeed,

The 2nd check at MY customs is the 100% check where they pull cars at random or suspcious looking pple/cars for a more through check that's all. They also got a quota to do every day so there's nothing to worry. I kenna a few times but no problem.

The SG Immigration check was maybe they could not see your NO. plate cleaarly on the CCTV monitoring screen, so she needs to check if yours SG or MY car. Some cars like Alfa got No. Plate to the side so cannot see clearly.

Please note that a Singaporean CANNOT drive a MY car in SG.

I didn't know they were required to look at my plate? [gossip]

I've been in and out of JB with the same car before and did not have any of such problems... [dizzy]

They were not checking for summons, they were checking my car boot contents etc.

It just about sums it up about their men doesn't it?

I was first checked by 2 men who then waved me on...and then stopped by another outside and asked to drive and be checked by another inside.

To me, it just shows how incompetent they are, and just telling me that the 1st 2 men were not doing their job properly and implying that they were incompetent [rolleyes]

I think you mean a JPJ officer stationed at their office just after MY Immigration(stamp passport as you leaving MY) who will pull you to the side if you got any outstanding summons. [;)]

Cheers [thumbsup]

As I said, maybe her CCTV was down or due to angle, she couldn't see your no. plate clearly so she just checking. No big issue. [;)]

As mentioned, Singaporeans cannot drive a MY car here. [thumbsdown]

Or maybe she got no numbers to play 4D, so she choose your car bcos you so cute. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

=======================

Cud b that your car description or number plate very similar to a tip off they received or information about smugglers coming in. [shocked]

If you didn't do anything to cause them to suspect you, above cud b the reason.

I do notice one thing when I pass through SG customs. They like to check bengs & sexy girls more than others. [sly]

Maybe these 2 groups are classified as high risk travellers. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

By your post, I think the first 2 were customs & the next one was police. [jawdrop]
