Car pulling left when steering is straight

How much did Autobacc charge for replacing the standard camber bolts/nuts to adjustable ones for your car? Is it around $70?

 

Mine's not adjustable, so I'll probably get it changed as well to those adjustable ones.

4 bolts? is that for front only or you did the rears as well?

 

I always thought 1 bolt is required for 1 tyre. I know there's 2 camber bolts/nuts in each tyre, but usually they just change 1 of them and the camber can be adjustable already.

hmm....you're driving 323 also right? hmm... actually that day I was at a workshop and I was just waiting for my car (also 323) and I saw how the mechanics did a camber nut replacement from the standard ones to the adjustable ones. But they only changed 1 nut. The other one (lower) is fixed (used as a pivot?).

 

Anyway, I think $50 to get the front tyres fixed is quite reasonable.

Depending on the type of suspension - Machperson strut type has fix camber angle. The only way to make adjust is to replace the strut top mounting cap with cap designed with elogated holes.The other wish-bone type has a fix pivot at the bottom of the camber linkage and another bolt at the top. To adjsut the camber, one of these std bolt must be replaced with a eccentric bolt. So by adjusting the eccentric bolt the camber angle will be increase or decrease.

After alignment adjustment, they will test drive the car and final adjustment made and then check the side slip to ensure that it is okay then hand over to owner?????

 

Anyway, I have not had any mal adjustment with them b4.

yes, that's what they did..

 

when I brought to another shop to check, they said the screw at the tie rod was adjusted all the way to maximum..(no thread)...

hmm? I thought mazda 323 uses macpherson struts? but the camber linkage sounds like what you describe for the 'wish-bone' type. 1 standard bolt at the bottom, 1 crooked bolt at the top.

Top bolt was stretched after many wheel alignments. Tightened until no more tread liao, must change new bolt.

How old is your car? Don't scare me man. My 323 is 3 years old. I always do alignment every now and then. It's very cheap to do it in msia. Probably too cheap and makes me so tempted.

Mine is when I release teh steering wheel then pull left. So I think its alignment prob. Will go fix it this weekend.

Mine new ride had this problem also, went to KM 3 times liao.

Same problem. Got them to sit in my car and they mention it could be

the power steering and not the alignment. First encounter for the Civic...

They ask me to go back after 2 weeks to check with them again.

I think they are bxxxxxxtting you. Should be the alignment prob and not the steering wheel prob. Get it fix outside at wheel alignment shop.

If that is so, I gonna claim from them as they have checked 3 times.

All claim that the alignment had been adjusted and correct. They even do the

wheel rotation for me, it seems better but still when free handle,

it goes to the left.

Hi,

 

By process of elimination, alignment is the first suspect. Once done, the next possibility is left/right steering can be also caused by swopping of wheels but this is slight. I remembered after alignment and swopping of wheels, my B14 has a slight left tendency when going on straight road at >80 km/hr. After driving for a while, it was ok.

 

I notice the wear rate of both front wheels were different thus this may be the cause.

changed camber bolts? Does tat mean my camber could be out? If not change for wat.

N how much did tat cost u? If camber is out, wouldn't it be detected during alignment?

I think yer 2001 323 model should not have this problem with the bolt. Is normal for wheel alignment once awhile, becuz our wheels always hit kerb of carparks.
